Happy New Year!
Can you believe 2017 is over and we're already a few weeks into 2018?! Where did the year go? I hope it was a wonderful year for all of you - it was a fantastic year for Kansas SHRM! Here are some of the highlights from 2017:
- In January, we had over 60 volunteer leaders attend the Kansas SHRM Leadership Academy in Manhattan. We had board members and committee members from SHRM Chapters throughout the state attend. We learned how to "lead out of drama" and gathered useful volunteer information. We also had a great time at our social event at the Liquid Art Winery!
- In February, we had over 120 people attend our 10th annual Employment Law and Employee Benefits Conference in Topeka. We had two full days of education and a great time networking at our social event at the Blue Moose!

Are you SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP Certified?
If so, please consider recertifying this year. Your recertification cycle will remain the same, but it allows you to get it done and out of the way so you don't have to worry about it next year. If you're a SHRM member the recertification cost is $100, for n
on-SHRM members the cost is $150.
Added to that - SHRM has renewed their recertification incentive program for 2018! This program provides monetary support to both the recertifying member's SHRM Chapter and State Council.
If you have any questions about certification or recertification please feel welcome to contact:

Email Phishing Scam Alert
Attention Chapter Volunteers - Please be aware that SHRM chapters and many other
organizations have been targeted in recent email phishing scams. These scams have typically taken the form of emails from someone posing as a Chapter leader to Treasurers requesting that they wire money to an account - usually the situation is said to be urgent and the scammers have done their homework in terms of making the email look legitimate.
This has become a big problem for SHRM chapters across the country and it has also hit close to home. Please take a few minutes to read the articles below for helpful tips to prevent this from happening in your Chapter or organization.
