February 2018 Newsletter from the Figaro Owners Club - Issue No: 95
Good Morning ,

Welcome to our February 2018 Newsletter! At this quiet time of year it's always a struggle to find interesting stories and thankfully Steve Newbold and Jim MacDougall came to the rescue. The story of Leah really did bring a tear to my eye, what a wonderful touch by member Julie Janes and not the first time a Figaro has been the catalyst for friendship. We all know the reputation for the Scots being careful with their money and having paid £2,000, it sounds like Glaswegian Jim got himself a great deal. He tells us it was a bit of a risk importing a Figaro directly from Japan to Florida but thankfully, it paid off.

For those of you who love to add the very latest accessories to your Figaro, you may be interested in a product from a company called Cabung. It inflates and seals the small gap, creating a barrier between the front seats and the centre console (which is really hard to access & clean) and hopefully stops you losing your small change and credit cards. When in place it matches the colour of the seats and you can even personalise with your car name or like we did with the words 'FIGARO'.

Over the past few months we've received a flurry of questions from new members and owners regarding what petrol should they use in their Figaro? With 91/95 and 98 Premium Unleaded Petrol available, it seems that everyone you ask has a different opinion on the subject. So we decided to seek 'expert advice' from the owner of The Figaro Shop Toby Brooks. The article makes interesting reading and it's reassuring to know that having put 95 octane into our cars over the years we've not done any long term damage!

Lastly, we have updated the Events page on our website and are pleased to announce it now contains no less than 21 events to visit with your Figaro. Learn more

10% Off Battery Disconnect Switch

Suppliers of our best selling upgrade ZoomerRoo have increased our members discount to 10%. If you use your Figaro infrequently you may have found to your frustration that the battery runs down. There are many reasons for the drain and some can be very hard to rectify.

This switch can be fitted in minutes and isolates the battery keeping it fully charged. When you wish to use your Figaro, you simply open the bonnet (hood) and switch on! Buy here
LED Breakdown Flare Replacement

An interesting post on our forum last month from ausfig (forum name) concerned a possible replacement of your Figaro Flare? The item is manufactured by a company called Brutes and is called a Roadside Safety Light. It comes in a pack of two and fits in the existing flare clip.

We were thinking, even if you have the existing flare, it maybe worth swapping over to this version as it could be very useful at night if you were to breakdown? The price we found was £22 through Amazon. Searched ' Brutus Roadside Safety Lights' on the internet and found this link - Buy here
Windscreen Figaro Display A4 Cards
(Non UK Versions)

We have updated the text on our info cards to make more sense if you are not based in the UK. The card now states...

All the cars were released between February and December 1991 and were only sold in Japan, although many of them have now been exported all over the world. As Japan is right-hand drive, they have been particularly popular in the UK. In 2016 the DVLA confirmed there were 3,933 registered.

You can download both the A4 Specification & History cards for placing in your Windscreen at car events  - Click here

We have had news that a Canadian club member could be selling his 300km Figaro (yes you heard me right, 300km) in the spring. If you are interested contact us and we will put you in touch with the owner.

About the club

How the club started
My son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro, having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16. After saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad) he brought an Emerald Green model in June 2008.

Following the purchase we scoured the internet for a members club in the hope that we could attend events with other owners, but were amazed that none existed...and so the Figaro Owners Club was born!  We decided to build a website and forum which took 6 months, and on the 1st March 2009 we pressed the 'publish button' and waited to see if anyone wanted to join. Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478 members.

Today the club has around 1,300 members worldwide in countries including New Zealand, Japan, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and many more.
We are grateful to you and all our other members for help and encouragement throughout our journey as the club has grown into a passion which has taken over our lives - we FIGure in a good way.
Warmest Regards
