Greetings future Falcons!  I would like to welcome you to this special edition of Falcon Focus.  This edition is dedicated to our upcoming 9th grade students, the Class of 2022!  Wow! 2022 seems so far away, but when you take it one-step at a time, this time passes very quickly. Are you ready?  Your first step to becoming a Falcon is to learn more about the vast opportunities that await you, and that is right around the corner.  As you will find in this edition, Central will host an 8th grade visit on Friday, January 19th. Not only do all 8th graders from our feeder schools attend this special day, but we have a record number of students who reside outside Central's district, who will also attend and plan to enroll under the state's open enrollment program. Following this visit, on the evening of February 7th, Central welcomes back the 8th grade students along with their parents to the EXPO. The EXPO is a celebration of all the opportunities that are offered to students.  It not only provides the venue for the 8th grade students to share their excitement of what they learned on their recent visit with their parents, but it expands their exploration of the school by having opportunities to interact with representatives from all the extra-curricular organizations and the athletic program.  On top of all this exploration, parents and students are provided a short information session by the counselors on course selection and how to create a course schedule that puts them on the path for college and career readiness.

In closing, we recognize our future Falcons come from a variety of schools, each with their own identity; however, once they take that first step, they become part of a new family, the Falcon Family, where a new chapter in their life/education begins.  We are honored to be part of that journey.  We know, that with the student's family and Central's experienced and caring staff, each student will be challenged, yet supported, so they are not only well prepared for a career and college, but have also been inspired by connecting their passion to many opportunities.  If there is one thing to take away from this short introduction, it is this, being a student at Central is simply Falcon Awesome!

CHS Curriculum Options Provide
a Variety of
Opportunities for Students
Students will soon be registering for classes for the 2018-2019 school year. It is important for parents, students and educators to approach course selection with a focus on long-range planning.  With thoughtful planning, students can leave high school with college credits, work experience, and/or industry certification. Central's curriculum options are growing and parents are encouraged to explore them fully.

Please follow the  link for more information on the course options for Central students.
CHS Bring Your Own Laptop
(BYOD)  Program

Central High School is a BYOD school where students provide their own technology for use in their classes. If a student or their family are unable to purchase a device, Central will work with those students to supply them with a device to use.

To learn more about our BYOD program, please click here to receive additional information and who you may contact regarding questions on our BYOD program.

Information for Parents and
incoming  9th Graders

Ninth grade is the most critical year to the success of high school students. It is a time for new courses, new classmates, new teachers, and new expectations for students moving from grade school to high school. Students often go from a smaller and more supportive grade school to a larger high school, where academics and social demands are higher.

Westosha Central High School recognizes the importance of supporting students in this transition. We provide a variety of opportunities for students to become acclimated to the building; explore all that Central has to offer, and to develop relationships with students and staff.

In addition to the two upcoming events 8th Grade Visitation Day and the 8th Grade Expo, there will be a number of other events that your 8th grader will want to attend. Please click the links  for the following activities and a coming event including Freshman Only Day.

Meet Your Counselor

Every student is assigned to a Counselor their four years at Central. Please click here to meet your counselor, learn more about how they will work with you on your four year course of study and more.

Meet Your Assistant Principals

Central High School administration in addition to your Principal Albrecht, also has two assistant principals. We also introduce your two assistant principals that are here to serve your needs during your years at Central.

Importance of Extra-Curriculars in  High School

As a student who will be a future Falcon, w e invite you to attend extra curricular events at the high school during the winter and spring sports seasons. All schedules, athletic information and online athletic registration can be found on the CHS Athletic Website

Westosha Central currently offers 26 WIAA sponsored or endorsed sports. These include baseball, softball, basketball, cross country, wrestling, football, gymnastics, swimming, hockey, soccer, tennis, track, volleyball, dance, and cheer. Plus, we offer an array of non-WIAA sanctioned sports including mountain biking, bowling, equestrian, lacrosse and trap.

An exciting new feature of athletics at CHS is the ability for fans to stream all home athletic events that are conducted in the  gym.  This new technology uses four different cameras and automatically follows the action of any sport. This season we have already used
it for wrestling meets, basketball games and the conference cheer/dance competition. Next year the feature will be expanded to include volleyball during the fall season. Games can be found at The High School Sports Network. Click the logo to the right to access the site.

We will be hosting an 8th grade athlete/parent meeting on April 18th at 6:00 p.m. The focus of the meeting will be starting dates, athletic paperwork, eligibility, open gyms, summer workouts and a meet/greet with high school coaches. Please put this date on your calendar and we will be sending reminders out as we get closer to the April date. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the CHS Athletic Department at (262) 843-2321 extension 245.
