WEEKLY PROGRESS
Happy New Year to all of you following our school construction updates! Crews were very busy over Winter Break. Here is a look at some of the work they completed while students were away:
Ground-level work continued at the Hopi campus over break. Crews have begun pouring concrete footings and laying out plumbing lines for the first of the new school buildings. Also over the holidays, crews completed underground prep work on Lafayette, so traffic is back to normal.
Demolition is now complete for the first phase of construction at
Pima
. Workers were able to salvage some of the school's existing playground equipment during demo, but a few tall trees did have to come down, as expected, to make way for the new buildings.
Also complete: asbestos abatement on the old Tonalea campus. Demolition of the old school buildings began over break to make way for planned sports fields.
Finally, over break, the tracks at Chaparral and Saguaro got new surfacing. Final painting wrapped up today. Now, it's just a matter of cleaning up the sites and doing a few touch ups before those fields re-open. Thank you for your patience while the tracks and fields were closed.
