Awakening To Love
We were blessed with a wonderful, musical service this Sunday! Rev. Linda's message was right on time, Spirit-led, and truly inspiring. Thank you, Rev. Linda - and praise the Living Christ that speaks through you!
Early in the service, we debuted our new "Unity Community Choir," with Laura Adair, Joyce Stokes-Burke, Jené Didlick, Jay Maynard, and myself; we joyfully performed the classic, traditional hymn,
"I've Got Peace Like A River," and the Karen Drucker-penned,
"I Send My Love..."
Laura, Danny Bauer, and I led a musical meditation, based upon the ancient Hawaiian healing practice of
Ho'oponopono. You may listen to the recorded meditation
HERE.
Below is the first of a monthly series of articles, whose purpose will be to provide an opportunity to review and reflect upon the past month's Sunday messages. Here at Unity of Columbus, we offer a positive path for spiritual living, complete with workable, practical tools for your "spiritual toolbox." It is our hope and prayer that this
"Unity In Review" series will be an invaluable resource to you, as you navigate your spiritual journey.
We are one in Spirit, and we celebrate and honor Unity in our diversity as a spiritual community. Join us this Sunday, as we awaken to Divine Love, through the practice of the Law of Mind Action. Remember - Change your thoughts, change your life!
Love and Light,
Daryn L. Wells
Editor In-Chief
"Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.
~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Light of Unity
"When we forgive others, when we change our mind about them, God's good is active immediately. We are the activity.
'God Is love,' and we are the movement of that love.

Ways YOU Can Help
Here are a few ways you can reach out in support
of the hurricane relief efforts:
UNIDOS Disaster Relief Fund (Hispanic Federation):
We continue to hold our world in prayer.
Let us remember this statement from Silent Unity:
"We heal hearts, beginning with our own. And we work for the benefit of all...
We do all we can, beginning in prayer."
It is not I, but the Christ within,
who does the work.

This Sunday At Unity
11:00 a.m. Sunday Celebration and Worship Service
Speaker:
Rev. Jan Seward
Title:
"A Case For Diversity"
Platform:
Shirley Williams, LUT
Music:
Laura Adair and Danny Bauer
Scripture:
"Jesus said, 'The first in importance is, "Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy."
And here is the second: "Love others as well as you love yourself." There is no other commandment that ranks with these.'"
~ Mark 12:30-31 (The Message Bible)
Inspirational Quote:
"There is something in every one of you that waits and listens
for the sound of the genuine in yourself.
It is the only true guide you will ever have.
And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life
spend your days on the ends
of strings that somebody else pulls."
~ Howard Washington Thurman:
African-American Author, Theologian, Civil Rights Leader
Be sure to stay for food and fellowship
after the Service.
You are always welcome home at Unity!

Unity In Review
Reflections Upon the Past Month's Messages and Tools
Ministry Theme: 2018 - The Year of Mind Action
January's Focus: Forgiveness
Key Points, Week One: Rev. Jan Seward,
"The Divine Flow of Forgiveness To Freedom":
- "Unforgiveness is really self-abuse; you are the one torturing yourself."
- Forgiveness isn't about letting others "off the hook"; it's about "pulling the knife out of your own gut."
- Letting go leads us back to our original state of purity - Oneness - that we had in the Beginning...
Key Points, Week Two: William Carpenter,
"A Course In Miracles On Forgiveness":
The Course reveals three steps to forgiveness:
- Awareness - Be mindful of your thoughts, your perceptions concerning your environment and what happens around you.
- Activation - We activate our Will - our ability to choose
- Asking - Our thoughts are prayers; we are always praying. Through Spiritual Law, we draw into our lives that which we "ask for," that which we hold in the forefront of our consciousness.
Key Points, Week Three: Rev. Sandra Weisner,
"Magic Eyes":
- To see with "Magic Eyes," there is a 9-Step forgiveness exercise, from the Stanford Forgiveness Project:
- NAME the person you feel has wronged you, and why "it's not okay";
- ALLOW yourself to feel your feelings fully.
- DO whatever you need to do to feel better (e.g., take a walk, listen to music, etc.).
- RECOGNIZE that your distress comes not from what happened, but from the thoughts you have about what happened.
[For the rest of the steps, we invite you to access the January 21, 2018 podcast by following the link below.]
Key Points, Week Four: Rev. Linda Poole Kennedy-Jackson,
"Radical Forgiveness":
- More important than traditional forgiveness is RADICAL forgiveness;
- "God does NOT forgive, because God does not condemn; there must be condemnation before there can be forgiveness."
- Let go of "Victim Consciousness," i.e., take responsibility for your feelings; this is the critical difference between traditional and radical forgiveness.
- Love others exactly as they are - hold them accountable where necessary, but do so from a place of Divine Love rather than harsh condemnation, which has its origin in Fear.
