Boys Varsity Basketball
The student athletes of St Aloysius started the boys basketball season with an honor roll performance on the court matching their commitment to excellence in the classroom. With 7 players scoring, Clay Manley's 7 points from the outside led the Bulldogs to a 27-23 victory over New Canaan Country School in a tight game with nine lead changes.
The Bulldog defense began applying pressure midway in the third quarter and remained forceful through the final minute. Andrew Tully, Alex Lanzillotti, Emmitt Cheever and Ryan Smith stopped the middle while Robbie Sluga, Matthew Mancini, Kevin DeCicco and Colin Lenskold stole the ball often enough to come back and win the game in front of a great crowd which loudly cheered for both teams in the wonderful matchup.
Boys JV Basketball
The St A's Junior Varsity began their 2018 season with unexpected tenacity in a 40-30 loss to Rippowam Cisqua School. Leading all scorers was Ryan Smith with 16 points and Matthew Mancini added 7 points for an otherwise nascent squad. Liam Tully and Nicholas Gervolino were tough on the boards while Andrew Lanzillotti, Kevin Cope and David Sevilla played well on defense throughout the game. Thibaud Rubin made 9 steals in the game which was close throughout until the final minute of play. "This was a wonderful start, albeit a loss, as the JV came together and played well as a Team" said Coach Rubin. "I can't wait for the next game and watch everyone build on what they started today."
Girls Varsity Basketball
On Thursday
, the Varsity team traveled to New Canaan Country School for a thrilling 29-22 victory.

Cayla Furnari fought off a stomach bug to add 6 points for the Dogs.
Sara Rohan worked her usual magic scoring a huge 3rd quarter basket and adding 12 rebounds.
Congratulations to Julia Sarda, Julianna LaMagna, Abbey Craco and Marina McGuiness who all shined in their Varsity debut

Dear Parents,
May every day of the New Year glow with good cheer and happiness for you and your family!
We celebrated the Epiphany on January 6th and remembered the three Magi visiting Jesus soon after His birth; also known as Three Kings Day.
I want to sincerely thank Fr. Rob for leading the spiritual retreat for our moms held at the St. Brigitta's in Darien.
I want to thank you for the smooth transition into our new dismissal procedure. Safety is our priority and your cooperation is always appreciated.
We are looking forward to Catholic Schools Week, which begins on Sunday, January 28th with our Open House for prospective families. The annual school Science Fair coming up on February 1st. Parents are welcomed to join us during the day or in the evening.
Our third graders took part in a fun social studies activity. Each student prepared a report about an interesting personality. Their written and oral presentations included accomplishments of important people like Helen Keller, George Lucas and Jeff Kenny.
Today's pep rally kicked off our basketball season with a taste of teamwork that exhibited sportsmanship and spirit!
The third session of After School Clubs will begin the week of March 5th.

We know our staff members are great, but here are some things you don't know.
This week featuring
Mr. Patrie
(Music Teacher)
1.) Who is your favorite musician of all time?
My favorite musician of all time is most definitely Johann Sebastian Bach. His rich contributions to music are still being enjoyed to this day.
2.) Do you love or hate roller coasters?
I have a love/hate relationship with roller coasters. I cannot do rides that go upside-down.
3.) If you could be a superhero, which would you be and why?
I think that I would be Batman just so I could have the keys to the Batmobile!
4.) Do you have any hobbies or collections?
Honestly, my primary hobby is practicing music, either on keyboard or guitar. I have recently started collecting rare music scores and books.
