There is distributor sponsored, end of vintage discounting on the 2013 St Supery Elu , Normal $65-$75, this offer $59.95.  We tried the 2013 ELU last night. Before commenting on the ELU specifically, we are continually impressed with the 2013 vintage in both Napa and Sonoma, particularly when tasting Bordeaux varietals. For those of you who enjoy California Cabs, consider putting back some of the 2013 vintage. The season was so perfect, winemakers did little augmentation. Though the tannin layer (2013) seems to be generally supple and focused, therefore the wines are table worthy today, they have excellent structure and acid. These 2013's will be cellar treasures, but they are leaving the market quickly. R&M

 The 2013 St Supery ELU opens with a wild multi berry profile. You might taste it immediately, but then give it 15 minutes. The cherry and raspberry aspects of this wine seem a bit light at first, but then the rich plum and blueberry drop into the mid palate. The nose has both violet and lavender. The flavor profile is wild berry which wraps richly extracted blueberry and plum. There are accents of coffee and roasted almond in the black currant finish. We tried the ELU with sharp cheddar and it is a wonderful cheese wine. We tried it with Michele's exceptional chili and the ELU stood up to the spice, the acids in its structure cleaning the palate with ease. The use of all five Bordeaux varietals makes this wine truly complex. Add that to the quality of the vintage in general and we can't help but to recommend the 2013 St. Supery ELU. R&M

93 points James Suckling;
"Black currants with sweet tobacco as well as espresso undertones dominate the nose of this Bordeaux blend. On the palate, this wine shows concentration, plenty of tannins and a finish with lots of dark fruits. A blend of 65% cabernet sauvignon, 22% merlot, 9% malbec with the balance of cab franc and petit verdot. Better in two years. "

"This is a blend of all five red Bordeaux varieties, with Cabernet Sauvignon taking the lead position at 65% and Merlot following at 22%. It shows classic characteristics of tart red currant, dried herb and cigar box within a full-bodied richness that's seamlessly smooth. "

All of the very best,
Rex & Michele
