AJAX
tiff Ajax Film Circuit

The tiff Ajax Film Circuit showcases unique films from the Toronto International Film Festival, from contemporary Canadian cinema to independent and world films. The St. Francis Centre welcomes five feature films this year, including these upcoming films:
  • On February 2, the tiff Ajax Film Circuit presents "The Divine Order," which charts Nora's journey, as she reluctantly becomes the local face of the fight for women's suffrage in Switzerland. Watch as she bands together with a rag-tag group of local women and confronts the restrictions placed upon them in public, as well as the more complex restrictions she faces at home.
  • "Meditation Park" screens on March 2. The film opens with Maria hosting a birthday celebration for her workaholic accountant husband, Bing. However, when she finds evidence that Bing may not be the perfect person she believes him to be, she's forced to consider her world in a radically different light. Maria embarks on a journey of self-discovery by engaging with the world around her.
Tickets are $10, or $38 for a four-ticket flex pack and are available at the St. Francis Centre Box Office, the Ajax & McLean Community Centres, the Audley Recreation Centre, or online at stfranciscentre.ca. For more information, please call 905-619-2529 ext. 2787 (ARTS).

Is fat biking for you?

For those looking to extend their cycling season, fat biking is a great option, and Durham Region offers some excellent groomed winter trails. What are fat bikes? Also called snow bikes, fat bikes are known for their oversized or "fat" tires, which hold a lower tire pressure and allow the cyclist to ride on soft terrain, such as snow, sand and mud. The Durham Mountain Biking Association (DMBA) maintains a number of trails in Durham, including groomed winter trails in Uxbridge's Durham Forest Main Tract. Riders should be cautious of changing trail conditions and dress for the weather. Check out DMBA's website for more information on trail conditions and information on the tire size requirement for groomed trails.
