January 2018 E-News
Mark your calendars for Heartland's 2018 Gala!

Friends, this year's Gala is a can't-miss night out benefiting animals and children in need of a place of healing. Save the date for Friday, May 18th for Heartland Farm Sanctuary's Barn in the Ballroom Gala. For the first time, we'll be hosting our Gala at the stunning Edgewater Hotel in downtown Madison. Your favorite animal residents will be there, too! More details to come - stay tuned!
Spring Camp: Registration now open!

Heartland's Spring Camp is an 8-week program starting April 7th and going through May 26th. Every Saturday, from 9 am to 4 pm, will be filled with creative projects, team-building games and activities, and plenty of time caring for and visiting with the 90+ rescued animals who call Heartland Farm Sanctuary home.

Spring is a beautiful time at our sanctuary, so we hope you'll join us! Please note that we will have a small group with a maximum enrollment of 12 campers (ages 8-13), so don't delay!

The cost for Spring Camp is $425.  Half-day options are available!

Summer Camp registration will officially open on February 12th! This summer, Heartland will offer 11 weeks of day camp  for kids 8-13 years old. Starting June 11th and going through August 24th, campers will experience up close & personal interaction with our friendly rescued farm animals, participate in barn chores and engage in activities centered around building our three 'C's: Compassion, Character and Confidence. Registration will be available on Heartland's website.

Announcing Heartland's new blog: Ruminations

Straight from the desk of our Executive Director, Jen Korz, Ruminations is Heartland's brand new blog aimed at sharing sneak peeks, stories, and musings from life here at our sanctuary.

Read Jen's first entry here, and make sure to follow us on Facebook so you always get the latest "word from the herd"!
Time for tours: Our 2018 spring tour schedule is here!

Public barn tours start back up on March 17th! Tours are approximately 75 minutes long and the fee is $12 per person (kids 2 and under are free). Registration  is required. We can't wait to see you at the sanctuary this spring!
Heartland thanks you!
January Volunteer of the Month:
Dan Priester
Every week, Dan drives from Illinois and dedicates his entire Sunday (10 AM to 7 PM!) to working at the sanctuary. He works the morning animal care shift, does construction and repair projects for several hours, and then works the evening shift! We absolutely admire Dan's passion for providing the best care to Heartland's rescued animals and his willingness to do any job (make a ramp for the emus, or act as a human chicken perch) and do it well! Dan, we couldn't do what we do without you so thank you for joining the Heartland family! Read more about Dan...
Animal Spotlight: Pandora
Miss Pandora is celebrating her four-year sanctuary anniversary this month! In 2014, Pandora was found wandering around a gas station parking lot in Verona. No one seemed to know where she came from or how long she had been hanging around the gas station in the frigid winter weather. Pandora's partner at Heartland was Phil the rooster until he passed away in April 2017. Pandora now enjoys her days at the barn with her hen friends Xena, Bailey and Brenda. She's such a special girl. Would you like to sponsor Pandora? Click here!
Support HFS by shopping Amazon!
Shopping Heartland's Amazon Wishlist may just be the easiest way to support our mission! Right now, we're in need of handwarmers for our volunteers, printer ink, storage clipboards and a salt spreader! (Just try not to get excited about these items! - but in all seriousness, they are a significant help to our staff & volunteers!)

Meet Mater!
Mater is about 1.5-year-old male potbellied pig looking for a new home. He is very loving guy who loves to snuggle. Mater prefers the indoors and is litterbox trained. He likes going outside when the weather is warm, and would need a secure outdoor enclosure since he is a fast little pig! He is neutered, up-to-date on shots and currently weighs about 60 pounds. If you're interested in adopting sweet and cuddly Mater, please contact Holly at [email protected]. You can find more farm animals looking for their forever homes on  Heartland's Rehoming page.
