2018 General Assembly Session

The 2018 Virginia General Assembly Session began on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 and is moving very rapidly. HBAV identified 134 pieces of legislation that would have a direct impact on building homes in Virginia. Examples of legislation include:
  • Impact fees on all new homes.
  • An effort to repeal the proffer reform legislation passed in 2016.
  • Moving the Fire Prevention Code away from the current building code process, opening the door for mandatory sprinklers in all new homes.
  • Allowing all localities to adopt affordable dwelling unit ordinances.

HBAV's lobbying team is spending every day at the Virginia General Assembly to communicate your message to members of the General Assembly and the newly elected administration. To view the complete list of bills that HBAV is acting on, Click HERE.
