What's Happening in North Smithfield
TOWN NEWS

Message from Town Administrator
Gary Ezovski

The Rhode Island Chapter of the American Planning Association held its annual awards event yesterday in Pawtucket.  It was a pleasure to be there to see North Smithfield Town Planner, Tom Kravitz, receive the first Daniel Varin Award.  Former State Director of Planning Varin who had retired in 1996 and died last year is revered by his peers in planning for his outstanding career in public service.  The RI Chapter of APA decided to honor Mr. Varin with an annual award program to recognize individuals who emulate his dedication.  Tom was presented the award for his many years of dedicated creative work and tireless efforts to bring plans into reality.  Tom is pictured, right, with one of his mentors, Former State Director of Planning Kevin Flynn, left, who was also recognized at the event with the APA President's Award for his outstanding and dedicated service to planning in RI.  Congratulations to two of Rhode Island's finest planning resources.

Town Hall and Town Annex will be closed
Monday, January 15th
In observance of
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Congratulations to Nolan Parent for receiving his Eagle Scout Award on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Nolan is the 65th Scout from Troop 1139 Slatersville receiving this great honor.   His project was to raise funds to purchase benches and a scoring table for the Pacheco park basketball courts.
