Shamrocks Who Shine
The Trinity Football players teamed up with the local Blue Star Mothers to raise $2,880 for Wreaths Across America, providing 288 wreaths for our veterans. Our team had the honor to attend the ceremony at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery and place a wreath on a veteran's grave, keeping the memory of that veteran alive. The local Blue Star Mothers have several members who have Trinity graduates serving in the military, so working with this organization was incredibly meaningful to all involved.
Senior Laura Weiss auditioned in early December for District Chorus and was chosen to participate. She will attend the District Chorus Festival from January 25 to 27 and perform in the concluding concert on the 27 at 5:00 p.m. at Susquehannock High School.

"Seek the Light, Be the Light"
Spiritual Reflections
By Scott Root, Campus Minister

Gospel for Sunday, January 14, 2018 – 2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time
John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, "Behold, the Lamb of God." The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi"--which translated means Teacher--"where are you staying?" He said to them, "Come, and you will see." So they went and saw where Jesus was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon. Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah"--which is translated Christ--Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John, you will be called Cephas"--which is translated Peter.
--John 1:35-42

Reflection
The Scriptures this week focus on God calling people to Himself and His service. In today’s world, we are called by God to be His witnesses. God calls, but are we listening? Or are we too busy living in the world? God calls us to be His hands and feet, His eyes and ears, in the world. The hymn written by Fr. Peter Scholtes reminds us: “They will know that we are Christians by our love.” Do we allow the world to see the love of Christ through us and our examples, or do we allow the world and its problems to harden our hearts?
Saint of the Week--Saint Anthony of Egypt--January 17
Saint Anthony was a solitary ascetic who practiced great mortification yet drew many people to himself. He responded by founding an early form of monastic life. He lived until age 105.

For more information on the saints, please visit Franciscan Media’s Saint of the Day website.
Prayer
Father in Heaven,
You call us each by name,
From the moment of our conception.
Help us to answer Your call to love You and our neighbor
By witnessing to Your love
By living our lives according to Your holy will.
Amen.
