WELCOME PASTOR PHILLIP AND DOROTHY HAYES to FCC!

From the Interim Minister
Dorothy and I are pleased to be here.   We can't remember when we have been so welcomed.   Many people in addition to the search committee have expressed their delight.   We thank you.
Dorothy and I met on the campus at Phillips University in Enid, OK.  We first met there at high school conference, but she does not remember that.  I guess I did not make much of an impression.  She remembers our sharing in college church activities the summer after her freshman year.  Anyway we will celebrate our 60 th wedding anniversary in June.
I served two student churches while I was at Phillips; one in Kansas and one in Oklahoma.  I served four churches as settled pastor; two in Kansas, one in Nebraska and one in Iowa.  In 1997 we started interim ministry.  Those churches have been in Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Montana, Idaho, Missouri, Colorado, Alabama, Wyoming and now the 17 th interim with you in Indiana.
In the event that you were not in church on the 21 st I will let you know what I prefer to be called.  You may address me at Phillip, Pastor, Pastor Phillip, or Pastor Hayes.  Please do not refer to me as either Reverend or Phil.
Lent is upon us.   We will celebrate both Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday on February 14.
Blessings,  Pastor Hayes

Thank you from Greg & Nancy
Nancy and I and our family would like to thank you for an absolutely amazing retirement celebration.  To say we were overwhelmed would be an understatement.  The day was more than we could ever have imagined or hoped for and we both say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.  Your generosity to us and expressed love for us is something we will always treasure.
We will miss being your ministers and it has been one of the great honors of my life to have been able to serve First Christian for nineteen years.  God is faithful and I am confident beyond measure that God will lead this great church into a vital future.  We will continue to pray for the church as you begin the search process and we know that God will guide the church as you seek your next Senior Minister.
While no longer doing funerals, weddings, dedications, etc. as your ministers we will continue to rejoice with you in times of celebration and mourn with you in time of sadness as your friends.  God Bless You and thanks again for a great send off and nineteen wonderful years.
Peace, Greg and Nancy

Jubilee Christmas 2017 was a huge success and I would like to thank each one for your contribution to make it so great.   Your help on Jubilee day was greatly appreciated and the gifts of toys, pajamas, food and money made it possible for 36 families in the Lafayette area to have a more joyous Christmas day.   Each child received 4 toy, a stuffed animal and a fleece blanket.   The food baskets were filled to the top this year.   As God has blessed us, we have been able to share our blessing with those less fortunate.   Now as we look forward to 2018 we hope to have several events throughout the year to make our next Jubilee Christmas another special day for those in need.   Blessings to all and watch for information on the upcoming event.
