Grace: It's Our Way of Life
As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly; Study the scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today; Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of  Christ. Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome because we are only here by Grace.
Where have you welcomed,  worshiped, studied or served?

Small Hands and Strong Arms
by Linda Schubert

Wordlessly, with grinning face and shuffling feet the small hands of Elliot Mittelstaedt, presented me with $900.00.  That generous gift was the offering collected over three years by the church school children, who Elliot represented that July Sunday.  The children had chosen to designate their collection to the Jubilee Ministries Pantry Garden at our small farm, tended by Sue Lovell and myself, assisted by my husband Art and a few others as they are able.

A NOTE ABOUT LITURGY
During the Interim time we will have the opportunity to use prayers which have been authorized by General Convention or are being considered for use in the church and will be brought to General Convention. I prefer to do this during a season rather than moving from Sunday to Sunday.   During Epiphany Season, we will be using the confession, the third Eucharistic prayer, and the post-communion prayer from Enriching our Worship. These resources "assist worshipping communities to expand the language, images, and metaphors used in worship."  At the end of the first two readings, you will hear the lector say:  Hear what the Spirit is saying to God's people.  Our response continues to be: Thanks be to God.  During this time we will also be introducing some service music that might be new to you, I encourage you to be open to trying something different as a way to enhance our worship experience.  As always, I am open to hearing your thoughts about liturgy and worship.

Blessings,
Kathryn+

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
WHERE MIGHT GOD BE CALLING YOU TO SERVE?

As a faith community, we focus much of our time on our outreach ministries, and that is good. We also have many needs in our 'inreach' ministries - caring for our own parishioners, caring for our property and buildings, and caring for our homebound and those who are becoming more frail; not to mention supporting our children in Christian education, supporting one another in building a closer relationship with our Creator, and reaching out to those who may be just beginning their faith journeys. We are blessed to have an active, diverse and engaging church family. But...

To be honest, we have needs for volunteers in almost every ministry - both inreach and outreach. What could you be doing to support our church family and its day-to-day operations and ministries? Perhaps you've been here a long time and are ready for a change. Perhaps you are newer to the congregation and are not sure what ministry would be a good fit for you. Perhaps you haven't felt ready yet - no matter the circumstances, we ask that you please pray about where God may be calling you to serve. Thank you!!

Some specific and immediate needs:
Food Pantry needs more volunteers on Mondays & Fridays (contact Nancy Johnson, Pantry Coordinator, 231-620-7408

Jubilee House needs more volunteers Monday - Friday (contact Glenda Andrews, Jubilee House Coordinator, 231-944-5444

Friday Lunch could use more people to join established teams, working one Friday a month (contact the office)

Worship Participants - Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, Welcomers, Intercessors (contact Kathy Will)

Pastoral Care Team needs more volunteers to take communion to our homebound (contact Kathryn+)

The Office needs volunteers who are computer literate - as well as vacation coverage (contact the office)

Over the next few weeks, we'll continue to highlight volunteer opportunities. Learn more about our ministries on the website: gracetc.org

Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!

Oleson's Community Share Program

Here's how it works:
  1. You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
  2. Turn in your receipts to the church.  Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
  3. We submit receipts back to Oleson's
  4. We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)

For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry.  Every little bit helps!

Thank you for participating!
