In our inaugural event in Delhi on Jan 15, Professor S.V. Subramanian, Harvard University, will discuss one of India's most serious developmental issues. Nearly half of children in India under the age of three are underweight or stunted; he will make recommendations for targeted policy deliberation and action.

During the Harvard Spring Semester, SAI Steering Committee members will be teaching courses including Muslim Societies in South Asia: Religion, Culture, and Identity (Ali Asani), Paintings of India (Jinah Kim) and Hindu Worlds of Art and Culture (Diana Eck).

Professor Rahul Mehrotra, Harvard University, delivered the s econd Jhabvala Memorial Lecture in Delhi, in which he criticized his own profession and " lamented that 99 percent of the professional narrative was devoted to catering to the fancies and preferences of one percent affluent clients."
