Dear Saint Rose Families,

January is a month of Catholic School appreciation. We have Catholic Schools Week starting on Sunday, January 28. This is a week that celebrates Catholic Schools.  Each day will have a different theme. The week will involve faith, service and fun.  A lot of great plans are being made.  Sunday, January 28 is also the Saint Rose Catholic Open House from 1-3 pm.  It is a great chance for our current families, prospective families and our parish community to spend some time in our school to see all that Saint Rose has to offer to its students and families.
Another way to celebrate our school and its teachers is with the annual Golden Apple Awards from the diocese.  The diocese accepts nominations from parents, students and teachers for outstanding teachers in the diocesan schools.  This is a great opportunity for our parents to nominate a teacher who has gone out of his/her way to support their children and the mission of our school.  Please take the time to nominate a teacher today.  Please think outside of the box, include elective teachers and preschool teachers.  A nomination is an affirming recognition of the impact our teachers have upon the lives of our children.

Sincerely,

Bryon Borgelt

Golden Apple Award
Have a favorite teacher who exemplifies professionalism and leadership? Does this teacher have unique qualities and teaching ability that are displayed in and out of the classroom? Are you impressed with the way this teacher goes above and beyond teaching the curriculum and focuses on each child? If so, please consider nominating a teacher who is outstanding and deserving of the prestigious Diocesan Golden Apple award.

THOL
It is time to start to plan this year's Teens High On Life for our 7th and 8th grade students.  THOL has a legacy of great parental support to make this week possible for our students.
There is a planning meeting on Wednesday, January 24 at 6 pm in Mrs. Brahier's room for any 7th/8th grade parents interested in assisting with the week.  Please mark this date on your calendar.  Information about the specific jobs and responsibilities will be sent out to 7th/8th grade families next week.

Class Mass for First Grade Students on January 21

The next Class Mass will be held on Sunday, January 21 at the 9:00am Mass.  Families with children in first grade are invited to worship together and to gather for a light reception to socialize in the Sacred Heart Center (school cafeteria) following Mass.  This is a wonderful time to strengthen or create bonds of Christian friendship.  This is open to all parishioners and school families.

Please click here to RSVP with the number who will be attending so that pews can be reserved in the front near the Saint Joseph altar and so that food can be provided.   You can also sign up for your family to bring up the Offertory gifts or to be Greeters before Mass .  Alternatively, you may RSVP with your family name and number of attendees by emailing Anne Brahier at [email protected].

The response to the first Class Masses has been very positive.  The Parish/School Relations Subcommittee hopes that many families will attend on January 21 .  Thank you.

Middle School Annual Ski/Snowboard Trip
Scheduled for February 1, 2018

PAYMENT DUE TOMORROW!!!

The annual Saint Rose middle school ski trip is back. The purpose of the trip is to provide our students with the opportunity to try something new, have some fun and bond as middle school students. We will also connect the trip to our science curriculum.

Students will travel by Blue Lakes Bus for this one day trip. We depart from Saint Rose School at 8:00 am and return around 7 pm. Students need to arrive and be on the bus by 7:45 am. We will head to Mad River Mountain. This is a perfect trip for beginners and more advanced skiers. Lessons are offered free of charge and the staff does a nice job of making sure the kids are ready for the mountain.  All students will be provided a lift ticket, rental, lesson, helmet and lunch. Parents may want to send extra money for snacks during the day as well as a quick stop at a fast food spot on the way back to school. Space is limited to 100 students. Payment is due Friday, January 12.

Saint Rose understands that skiing is not an interest that all of students share. Students that do not attend the trip will participate in fun activities at school.

Cost= $70

Winter Enrichment Deadline Extended!

Ballet & Jazz | Grades K-2

CTCT-20180106_105255_1 If you didn't get a chance to sign up before or if you are looking for more ways to keep your student engaged after school, we still have a class open!

Ballet & jazz is a combination class that allows students to learn both genres. Ballet educates dancers on their own bodies and builds an understanding and respect for the ballet technique, which is an important basic for anyone looking to study other forms of dance as well as builds strength and balance for enhanced performance in sports. Jazz technique & conditioning exercises established by the American Jazz curriculum includes jumping, turning and stylized choreography in this fast paced class.

Classes will start January 17th, 4:15-5pm

Girls On The Run

Empowered...strong...inspiring...healthy...FUN! These are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the Girls on the Run program from past participants. We are excited to announce that the Girls on the Run program is returning for another season!

We had so much fun and learned so much last season we are gearing up for the spring! We will offer a different curriculum with new games and activities, but cover the same core values and tackle important life lessons.  New participants are encouraged to sign up and girls who have already completed the program are invited back!

New this year...we will also have a team for 6th-8th graders. It is available for new participants, as well as for those girls who previously participated in G.O.T.R.

If we have enough girls sign up and find volunteer coaches ... we will be off and running in late February! Online registration opens Monday, February 5th. Please visit www.GirlsOnTheRunNWOhio.org  for more information on this incredible, life-changing program!
