2017 Year-End Recap
Strategic Planning
NASCA started off 2017 with a Strategic Planning session for the Executive Committee in Lexington, Ky. It was during this in person meeting that set the tone for how NASCA's Executive Committee and staff worked to achieve their goals for the upcoming 2 years.
Go here to view NASCA's mission and strategic goals. Through strong committee work and efforts from state and corporate members, NASCA achieved several major outcomes, including a new mission statement, new logo and branding and updated state and corporate membership dues models.
NASCA Roundtable: A Managed Service Contract for Facilities Management
In May,
NASCA's Roundtable on Facilities Management was held in Nashville, Tennessee. The event provided networking and in-person learning to state members interested in managed service contracts for facilities management.

NASCA Institute on Management and Leadership
Held in Atlanta, GA., the 2017 Institute on Management and Leadership was an engaging two-day executive education program led by the Leadership for a Networked World at Harvard University. This event invited private sector partners to sit alongside state chief administrators to discuss challenges for 2017 and develop new tools for success in state government. Participants shared best practices on pacing the velocity of change effectively. In particular, the Institute addressed this critical issue from multiple lenses: strategy, technology, human capital and leadership. Please visit our resource center for 2017 Institute materials.
NASCA awarded four states with the Innovation in State Government Award for an innovative projects or initiatives in their states. The award was given for the following categories: general services, infrastructure, personnel, and financial management. Read all winning award submissions here.
Additionally, NASCA awarded the National Walton Leadership Award to recognize a state chief administrator for his or her passion, outstanding service, leadership and commitment to state government. This award was created to honor Ray Walton for his service to state government and NASCA. This year's recipient of the National Walton Leadership Award is Chris Liu, Director of Enterprise Services for the State of Washington.
