Enrollment Agreements 2018-2019

We are already looking forward to another fantastic year at Peabody in 2018-19! Your child’s Enrollment Agreement for the 2018-19 school year is now available on your parent portal. Please complete and sign the agreement electronically by logging in to your  portal account. In addition, please submit your enrollment fee of $150 by check to the Front Office. 

Your Enrollment Agreement and Enrollment Fee are due no later than Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in order to hold your child’s space for the 2018-19 academic year. The deadline for re-enrollment is firm. There are substantial waiting lists in many classes, and places will be offered to waiting families after  4:00 p.m . on February 7th.
Auction News!

The invitations to our "Peabody and the Chocolate Factory" gala should have arrived in your mailbox last week! Please let the front office know if you did not receive one.

Please RSVP to  [email protected]  and provide payment ($45/ticket) by Monday, Feb 5th! You may drop a check to the Front Office or pay online at our new Peabody Auction website (thank you, Jen Fleisher!) at  www.peabodyauction.org .

Admissions News

The  Winter Admissions Open House will be Wednesday, February 13th, 2018 from 9 - 1:30 pm. Please invite prospective families to join us!

The admissions deadline for applying to  2018-19 Kindergarten is February 1, 2018. Qualified applicants with completed admissions files may be invited to visit Peabody on one of the two upcoming Kindergarten Visit Days on February 1st or February 5th.

January Shoe Drive.. Last Call!

Peabody will once again be a drop-off location for the Salvation Army Winter Shoe Drive. Please bring any gently used shoes you would like to donate to the drive to school and deposit into the box by the main hallway. The drive ends January 31st. Thank you for your support!
New Year's Household Item Drive

Our 7th/8th Grade Panther Corps students are collecting items for their partner organizations. Please see the flyer for organizations we are supporting. The last day to donate is January 31st!

  • Our swim team has a meet at the Seton School in Warrenton, Virginia tomorrow!

  • Our boys' and girls' basketball teams have a doubleheader on January 29th at home versus Covenant. The girl's game starts at 4:00. Come out and support our Panthers!

  • The boys' basketball team also has a game January 30th at home versus Little Keswick starting at 4:00PM.

2017-2018 Annual Fund Update

Many thanks to everyone who has already donated to the Peabody Annual Fund for 2017-18! We are extremely grateful for your contributions, and appreciate your support of Peabody and our mission. Our goal is 100% participation from all faculty/staff and families! We hope you will help us get there! 

Grades 5-8 Ski Trip! Deadline is Today!
Time to go skiing! This year’s grade fifth through eighth ski trip will be on Friday, February 2nd. Please read this information about the trip. We really love to have as many chaperones as we can so that all the kids are well taken care of. This is a wonderful, community-building trip and we hope that you can join us!

Student Shout-Outs!
Addie Brudin, Grade 5
Addie Brudin was chosen as an All Star performer during the Junior Theater Festival held in Atlanta over the MLK weekend. Her group from DMR Adventures (led by Melissa Charles, former Peabody School Drama teacher), performed a condensed version of Guys and Doll for adjudication. As an All Star, she also got to perform in the main stage in front of the 6000 festival attendees. Way to go Addie!

Claire Newman, Grade 7
Congratulations to Claire Newman who auditioned and was accepted into the All-District band! This ensemble is comprised of middle school students from ten counties in central Virginia. To participate in this event, students must audition. Those with the highest scores are asked to play with the ensemble. Students who are accepted into the All-District band participate in two days of intensive rehearsals followed by a final performance. Their performance will take place on Saturday February 3rd at 3:30pm in the Albemarle High School auditorium. It is a free concert and is open to the public. We would love to see some Peabody Panthers in the audience!

Come listen to 14 Stories this Sunday January 28 from 2-4 pm at Pro Re Nata in Crozet. (current Peabody students Marcus Beauford and Sophie Owens and Peabody alums Nadja Beauford and Will Owens) It’s free and kid friendly! Covers of: Tom Petty, Lumineers, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and more!

Staff Update

We wanted to share with you that Miss Kim Basile-Wood will not be returning to Peabody School. We are grateful for her many years of service and dedication to our Peabody School community. She has been a long-time teacher and coach and has touched the lives of many Peabody students and alums. We wish her all the best.

  • Albemarle High School visitation day is on Tuesday, March 27th . This day invites interested students to come visit AHS from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. Counselors will hold an information meeting for parents/guardians at 1pm. Families that are interested should contact Sheena Washington in the AHS School Counseling office at 434-974-4321 or by email at [email protected] to sign up. Due to the fact that students will need to be assigned to a group, they will need parents to RSVP no later than March 20th.

  • February 10 - Kid*Vention Family Science Festival from 10am to 3pm at the Key Recreation Center. Exhibitors from around the area will be on deck to provide kids ages 3-10 and their family hands-on STEM activities. This event is free and open to the public, no registration required.

  • March 8 (deadline) - the Society of Women Engineers at UVA invite you to apply to attend the Middle School Exploration held on March 18 from 11am to 4pm. The program is designed to give middle school girls a comprehensive look at engineering through hands-on demonstrations, a design activity, a speaker, lab tours, and lunch with current engineering students. Apply now.
