Thursday, January 18, 7:30 pm: The Book of Ruth
How does the situation Ruth faces echo the story of Tamar and Judah (the ancestors of Boaz) in Genesis 38? What is the role of Naomi and of Ruth in the plan to find favor in the eyes of Boaz?

Thursday, January 25, 7:30 pm: The Book of Esther
What motivates Esther to accept the dangerous role of saving her people through her relation to the Persian King?  What is the clever and bold plan she adopts to accomplish that end?

Thanks to Rabbi Deborah Silver of Shir Chadash for arranging this series

Martin Luther King March

Please join us in our annual participation of the Martin Luther King Day March. The March will be held  Monday, January 15, 2018 . We encourage you to walk with Federation and the Jewish Veterans as we march in solidarity with the African American community. Please see the attached route and note that this year's starting place and ending place is different from past years'. It would be great to pull a presence from the different synagogues and organizations, please feel free to bring a banner or wear shirts to indicate your affiliation.

For those concerned about parking, Ms. Carol Berman  of Jewish Veterans thoughtfully arranged a bus to meet at the Home Depot (1100 S Claiborne - Claiborne and Earhart) at 8 am. If you were interested, you could park at the Home Depot and the bus will take you to the beginning of the parade. Afterward, the bus will meet marchers at the end of the route and return to Home Depot. You are also welcome just to meet us at the A.L. Davis Park Hall (on LaSalle) at 8:15. The City requested we be there for 8, but after speaking with participants from year's past, that is likely too early.

Kindly let Bradley Bain ([email protected]) know if you plan to participate and let Carol Berman ([email protected]) know if you would like to ride the bus. At the parade, you can reach out to Carol via her phone:b 504-390-5505.
