Indigo Healing Arts Collective

Join our newest business for their inaugural First Friday event! Indigo Healing Arts Collective is pleased to offer this fun, musically inspired yoga flow class called Funky Friday. You are encouraged to come as you are, let loose, move, and breathe. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Students are encouraged to bring a mat, otherwise mats will be provided. $10. Skip the line by placing your deli sandwich order through the Swarthmore Co-Op websiteOnline orders can be fulfilled from 8 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Please allow 20 minutes for sandwich preparation. Grab a drink, pickle, and a bag of chips and breakfast/lunch/dinner is served. Yum!

Caring for Your Houseplants 
Wednesday, 2/7 at 7 pm 
Are you an indoor gardener with a passion for plants? Would you like to know how to best care for your houseplants? Join James Verdi, founder of the Houseplant Hospital in Swarthmore, as he shares his expertise on cultivating a green thumb for your houseplants! James will guide you from choosing the right plant for the right place to developing maintenance practices that will make your plant thrive.  After a short presentation, James will be available to answer questions, so please bring all your questions and concerns about your own houseplants.

Plant Science: An Introduction to Botany

See plants in a new way in this video lecture series from The Great Courses, as Professor Catherine Kleier invites us into the uniquely satisfying world of plants, and the joy of celebrating and learning from the secrets of living nature. In Stitches
Thursday, 2/15 at 6 pm
Do you knit, crochet or do needlework? No matter where your skill level is, you can join the monthly In Stitches club to learn and share tips and ideas while having lively conversations with fellow crafters. Some supplies available for newcomers.

English Conversation for English Language Learners
Friday, 2/23 at 2 pm
A free conversation hour as you build your confidence in speaking English. Topics may involve small talk, holidays and customs, and common slang. Participants will get to practice speaking in a casual environment and meet other international adults (age 14 and over). Participation is free; registration is required. The facilitator, Mimi Nenno, holds an MA TESL degree and has 3 years' experience teaching adults.

Special Announcement from the Swarthmore Public Library
The Library will be rearranging the collection to better serve our patrons from February 9-23. During the project the following collections will be unavailable for browsing or check-out: juvenile non-fiction & biography; young adult non-fiction & biography. Senior Citizens Association Goes Digital!

The mission of the Swarthmore Senior Citizens Association is to promote the well-being of seniors, as well as others in the community, by providing a welcoming environment for social interaction, learning opportunities, and exploring resources through a variety of activities and programs. Learn more about SSCA and subscribe for updates by visiting their  new website. You'll also find information about upcoming events and the Swarthmore TimeBank, a time-based currency that helps to build circles and networks of mutual support.

"Rise Above" by Rochelle Myers
On Display: Rochelle Myers

An exhibition of original acrylic paintings by local artist Rochelle Myers will be on display from February 1 through February 26 at Swarthmore Borough Hall. The public is invited to the artist's opening reception on Sunday, February 4 from 2-4 pm. Both the exhibit and the opening are free and open to the public. Ms. Myers will also be at Borough Hall for the upcoming First Friday event, February 2 from 6-8 pm.

The exhibit presents paintings by Ms. Myers, the subject matter primarily in abstract realism using acrylics on canvas. With compositions inspired by reflective light, her work captures the contrast of bright light and dark shadows to describe form and atmosphere. "My artistic philosophy is to use color in layers that express my impression of a particular place; always using geometric shapes, planes and textures, hoping to communicate an energetic impact to the viewer."

Beer & Cheese 2018,  brought to you by the Swarthmore Co-Op. Beer and cheese aficionados will move through multiple tasting stations, each with a specially-paired beer and cheese offering that represents the best of local creameries and brewers. You will also have access to experts who can provide great descriptions and information on the beers and cheeses being featured.

April 20, 5-9 pm
The  Food Truck-A-Thon  is back at the Swarthmore CO-OP. A variety of food trucks and vendors will be on hand for patrons to enjoy amazing food and drinks. Stay tuned for a full list of food trucks.
