Helping Hands Glove Collection - Year 3!
Sundays, January 14 and 21
in Community Hall
Thank you for your generosity in years one and two of our Helping Hands project. In this third year, we will collect new, no-frills gloves for men, women and children that will be distributed throughout the Friendship House ministries during the cold winter months. Clotheslines will be up in Community Hall on January 14 and 21 so that you can hang your donations of new gloves/mittens! We will have a small clothes rack for children to hang their donations. This is a simple, meaningful way for each of us to provide a "helping hand" to those in need. Thank you!

With Josh Thomas, Executive Director for NAMI Delaware (National Alliance on Mental Illness)
Our faith community is a reflection of our community. One in five Americans live with mental illness. We are all impacted by mental illness, because we likely are either living with mental illness or care about someone who does. This two-part series will explore mental illness and the reasons we usually don't talk about it. Part 1 - Mental Health and Mental Illness, Causes of Illness, Treatment and Destructive Power of Stigma. Part 2 - Living with Mental Illness: Wellness, Culture, Experiences, Stress, Blame, Shame and Risks

A Joint Salon with Congregation Beth Shalom
Thursday, February 1, 6:30 p.m. at the home of Dave and Sally McBride (2316 W 17th Street, Wilmington, DE)
Does the universe bend towards justice? It famously has been said that "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." This salon will bring Jewish and Christian friends together to discuss the theological, scientific and historical support for that assertion at a time when moral despair may be clouding our vision. Space is limited. Please RSVP to Susan Moseley (smoseley@wpc.org).

News to Note
My Story - Barbara Fedeler
Jerry and I were married at Westminster, my childhood church home. We moved around the country, raised a family, and were active in many other churches. On returning to Delaware to taxi my folks, Jessie and Cerd Marsh, we realized it would be convenient to join their church. I worried in what ways the church had changed in the 41 years I'd been away; my faith had certainly evolved. We attended a relevant Bible study on the following week's lesson led by the pastor who'd be preaching. We quickly recognized we shared the pastors' perspectives on theology and outreach. We found kindred spirits in the discussion group. Westminster would be OUR church, not just my parents'.
As the New Year Begins
To all who have made your pledge of financial support to Westminster for 2018, we thank you! To those who have not yet done so, we ask that your New Year's resolutions include this act of faithful generosity - that you will make your pledge before our Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 28. So much life-giving, faith-growing ministry is possible because of your gifts! Your generosity will make a real difference in the life of our church for the coming year - and will impact countless lives, many of whom we will never know. We extend our deep gratitude for your faithfulness. - The Westminster Stewardship Team
