President's Message
Good grief where did 2017 go? Happy 2018 everyone as we move into 61 years...incredible! Thanks to you all for making the FPCA diamond anniversary memorable.
A few nights ago, I had the honor of meeting for dinner with a number of the FPCA past presidents. The business at hand was their duty of nominating the next slate of officers and board members, but of equal importance was the business of storytelling and learning. All of the men and women at that table are pillars of the prestressed industry in Florida and the nation. It's always beneficial when one can interact directly with a person who has walked in your shoes.
We're excited for 2018 and really energized to further implement the five focus areas that came out of our strategic planning meeting in October; Marketing and Educating Specifiers, Educating Faculty and Students at State Universities about Precast/Prestressed Concrete, continuing our FDOT Liaison efforts, Workforce Development, and enhancing Associate Member Involvement. Volunteers are welcome and needed for all of these 5 areas, so please let us know if one or more is something with which you'd like to get involved.
I look forward to seeing you all at Mission Inn.
Lenny Salvo, President of the Board

I would like to echo Lenny's sentiment, concerning the Nominating Committee, of what a pleasure it was to have so much FPCA history and current industry leaders in the same room. It was absolutely an honor for me, Lenny and Tom Newton, as Immediate-Past President serving as Chairman of the Nominating Committee to play hosts to the first Annual Nominating Committee Dinner at Moonfish Restaurant in Orlando. Unfortunately the event took place on one of the coldest nights in Florida, so a few could not attend. I personally hope in future years, we could continue to have more complete attendance from all of our Past Presidents to learn from their experiences on how to better our industry. Like Lenny, I took away a few things to add to my activities to better our Association. Besides the gathering of old friends, these active Past Presidents are also responsible for nominating the slate of Officers and Directors for 2018. The slate of nominees was sent to the general membership on Jan. 7th, 2018. The approval of the 2018 Officers and Directors will take place at our Annual Membership Meeting at Mission Inn Resort & Club on Friday, Feb. 2nd at 8:00 AM.

PCI's Update
PCI Materials on OSHA Silica Rules Compliance More Important Than Ever
PCI members have probably heard by now that the legal challenges brought by various industry groups to the new OSHA silica dust regulations had been rejected by the federal courts in late December 2017. PCI will continue to work with other industry trade groups and the administration on minimizing the impact of the new rules on construction sites and plant locations. Regulations are already in place for construction sites, with new rules for general industry (plant locations) scheduled to take effect in June 2018. Members are urged to take advantage of the wealth of materials available on how to guide your company through compliance, in the Members section of the PCI website.
PCI Government Affairs Update
With the push on tax reform and all the other activity of 2017, and heading into another busy year in Washington in 2018, PCI consultant The Smith-Free Group has prepared a summary of activity and a look at 2018, including a prognosis on infrastructure funding and other important issues in 2018. SICOMA North America
Producing high quality concrete is no longer an alchemist job, especially if consistency is demanded at every single batch.
SICOMA mixers (MP and MAO types), equipment designed, engineered and totally manufactured in Italy, are more and more widely used in concrete production across USA, thanks to their capability and flexibility in mixing several types of mix designs, precast-prestressed concrete, SCC, standard ready mix concrete and RCC for roads and dams.
Exclusive patented solutions for transmission and auxiliary devices are the core of SICOMA mixers. These unique features combined with unique counter flow compulsory action, provide the best technology in concrete production. Reliability, consistency, repetitiveness of results, high performance level, heavy duty capabilities and easy maintenance are the key factor of the SICOMA mixers.
In 2017, SICOMA and the OMG Group achieve 70th anniversary. Ready for the future of mixing.
