As the leader of the Chicago Loop Alliance, Michael Edwards provides strategic leadership to advance the organization's vision of the Loop as Chicago's top destination for business, retail, tourism, entertainment and education. He oversees an annual budget of $3 million and a staff of seven. Recent efforts include placemaking and management initiatives to reuse forgotten City infrastructure including alleys and other neglected public spaces in the Loop. The ACTIVATE program has sparked interest and imagination by promoting the arts, music and creativity in unique urban settings.

"Mike has tremendous experience in revitalizing urban districts and we are excited to bring him to the Port City," said WDI President Ed Wolverton. "Mike has helped transform Chicago's iconic Loop district into a world-class commercial, residential and visitor center and he brings a wealth of knowledge about trends and best practices that we can employ to further enhance our efforts," he added. Wolverton also noted that even though Chicago is significantly larger than Wilmington, many of the programs led by Mr. Edwards can be scaled to fit our community.
