Upper Kirby Construction
Updates for Westheimer, Bissonnet, and Eastside for 2018!

Westheimer Storm Drainage and Street Reconstruction:

Westheimer Road improvements move forward with new signage, bus shelters and trees. (pictured). This  week expect to see more tree grates and paver sections installed.

New sidewalks are complete at the Kirby Drive intersection adjacent to West Ave and look great. Further west, sidewalk will be installed  adjacent to Chuys.

Work through the remainder of the month of January includes installation of pedestrian benches, trash receptacles, sidewalk pavers, and new landscaping.

The new wider sidewalks along Westheimer are a much needed improvement for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling through the district. Please let us know how you like them.

Bissonnet Storm Drainage  and Street Reconstruction:

Crews along Bissonnet were very busy last week and will continue this week installing new pavement and utilities. Please read the temporary traffic closures and re-routes described below carefully and expect slow traffic in this area.

There are new sections of roadway pavement open to traffic traveling eastbound, but expect traffic to slow down as you approach Kirby Drive as construction activity in this section is increased. New pavement has recently been installed, but has not yet been opened.

Westbound traffic adjacent to the Belmont Apartments has been diverted to eastbound lanes beyond the Wakeforest Avenue intersection. (pictured). Please be aware that  traffic is running in both directions in this area until you reach Buffalo Speedway.

Please be aware of construction crews and all temporary traffic signs on Bissonnet as they change from day to day.

Eastside Street Utility and Streetscape Improvements:

Eastside Street roadway improvements north of Alabama Street are moving quickly. New roadway paving has been installed for half of the street .

Crews are currently installing n ew sanitary line on the second half of the street  which should continue into next week.

Crews will also shift south adjacent to Levy Park and begin  pedestrian sidewalks and electrical work for new street and walkway lighting. This section is reduced to a single lane in each direction.

Traffic lane closures for this week on Eastside Street include:
1. Eastside Street between Westheimer and  Alabama will be closed to traffic until February 24, 2018.
