Peabody Receives full Re-Accreditation from SAIS

Peabody was recommended for full re-accreditation from SAIS! Thank you to everyone that participated in the process. We will be publishing an Executive Summary in January that outlines some of our major commendations and recommendations for continued growth. Here is a excerpt from the report...

"Arriving on campus, the team was welcomed by a warm, engaging, creative, and mission-driven community. While there are many positive attributes we can (and will) mention, the team was struck most by the love of the school expressed by the entire community of parents, teachers, leadership, board members, and students. Not only was there a clear “Peabody Way,” but its presence was visible in the form of student spirit and engagement, teachers' engagement with students, and a clear focus on learning."

Thanks for being part of our school community!
Dejeuner Quebecois

On Wednesday, grades 6 and 7 French classes celebrated the culture of Quebec in a delicious culinary manner. Au menu: toutière, cipate, tarte au sirop d'éranle.... miam! Merci for your participation, it was a fun and sweet event!

World Peace Game

Our fifth grade students will be participating in the World Peace Game this spring and we are in need of your help!

As we prepare to offer this to our students, we need your help to build the board. Please see the sign-up genius for pieces needed for us to play the game and if you are willing donate anything, please drop it off in the main office. Used pieces are more than acceptable. Thanks!

This Week in Middle School...

  • Mid Quarter Progress Reports are being emailed home later this evening. Please contact the office if you do not receive one for your student by tonight.

  • In middle school science, the sixth graders began presenting their substance synthesis projects. Each sixth grade student researched the chemistry required to create a substance of their choosing starting with raw ingredients found in nature. The most challenging aspect of this project is when the students demonstrate the synthesis, or pivotal chemical reaction, in front of the class. They started the demonstrations off with glue and caramel and next week they will be learning about chocolate, carbon fiber, and tea tree oil just to name a few.  The seventh grade is finishing up their self-directed trebuchet construction project. As a challenge, only basic building materials (plywood strips and glue) were provided and the students researched, designed, and have nearly finished their very own trebuchets. The first few test projectiles have been launched, but our competition will take place Monday.

  • Our boys basketball team won their first game against Little Keswick!

  • Our swim team has their first meet tonight at the St. Catherine's Invitational. Good Luck!

Coming Up....

  • Our boys' and girls' basketball teams have games on January 4th at Home against Regents School. The first game starts at 4:00.

  • Mid-term exams will be held from January 17th-19th. An exam schedule will be released on January 5th.

Just a reminder that those donations received prior to December 31, 2017 receive a Peabody School credit card holder for your cell phone as a thank you!!!

Habitat for Humanity Presentation

Fifth grade is taking part in a study of community organizations that benefit others. Mr. Dan Rosensweig, President/CEO of Habitat for Humanity, and Peabody parent, visited Thursday to give us an engaging and informative presentation about his organization. Our fifth grade not only learned a great deal but were inspired by his message of community for all.
