Dear Lycée Parent / Guardian,

IMPORTANT REMINDER:
If you are a parent of a current Lycee student and applying for a younger sibling entering PK4  or Kindergarten, please be aware, that the state has mandated a change in our priority ranking. Please visit www.lfno.org/eligibility_priority/ for full details.

As a Type II Charter School, we have a legal obligation to give 1st priority to applicants who qualify as Economically Disadvantaged to have our student population reflect that of the local community. This means that sibling priority has changed.

Update on definition of Economically Disadvantaged
The state's definition of Economically Disadvantaged ( http://www.lfno.org/at-risk-eligibility) includes applicants who qualify as English Language Learners. If you speak any language other than English at home, you could qualify for this priority. Please reach out to Admissions/Data to make an appointment and fill out a language survey before Feb 23 2018. You can reach the Director of Admissions, Cristina Sànchez at  [email protected]

OneApp deadline reminder: Feb 23 for students entering PK4 and Kindergarten. And TOMORROW (Friday, January 12th) for students entering grades 1 and up.

Thank you all,

Keith Bartlett

We understand that a number of families were confused about the Backpack Program forms. The sign up forms are for those who are in need of extra food for their children, and not those who wish to donate.  If you signed up and do not need assistance, you may notify us via email at [email protected] . Please include the subject line "Backpack Program Withdrawal" and in the message write your intention to withdraw and your child's name.

If you would like to donate to the program please visit their website here:  http://fuelthefuturefoundation.com/donate/

Patton Campus

Annual Parade, Friday, February 9, at 1:30 PM.  Students will parade around the block the Patton campus occupies.  Each class will have a theme dress that compliments the overarching parade theme,  Joyeux Anniversaire NOLA - 300.  The parade will include Jazz, and faculty bands, stilt walkers, and Parents are asked to provide throws for their children.  Because the school has grown so large, it is no longer possible to bring all our students together for the parade.  Students at  the Johnson campus will have their own unique celebration.

Johnson Campus

Students at the Johnson Campus will begin a new tradition, Fete de la Galette, a King Cake competition, costume design station, face painting, Jazz band dance, and spirit rally on Friday, January 26 from 1:30 until 3:30 PM.  This celebration will take place on the grounds of the Johnson campus.

AfterCare / Early dismissal days due to parade congestion:
Friday, February 2 and Wednesday, February 7 AfterCare closes at 5:00 PM
Early dismissal days (Wednesday schedule) and No AfterCare on Thursday and Friday, February 8 and 9.

This year's Mardi Gras Celebrations will be the best yet - and they are coming up FAST!   We are in need of lots of wonderful volunteers to donate King Cakes, Art Supplies and more!   We also have opportunities for 5th, 6th, 7th graders to help face paint and work on arts and crafts with other Johnson students.  Please sign up using the SignUpGenius link here.  http://bit.ly/2FqrVmF

Room Parents will be receiving an email later this week about how each individual class can contribute to the celebrations. The theme is "Joyeux Anniversaire NOLA - 300"!
