CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK:
JANUARY 28th-FEBRUARY 3rd
Beginning on January 28th and ending on February 3rd, our Catholic School will join with Catholic Schools across the nation in celebrating the gift that Catholic Schools are to our Church, our communities and to the world. While Catholic Schools certainly face challenges, we strongly fulfill our mission of faith and academics each and every day. Our theme of Catholic Schools Week 2018 is, "Believe. Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed." At Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, our students are taught to believe in our God, His Son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. They are also taught to believe in themselves as gifted with faith and made in the image and likeness of God. Our students are taught to be learners who are open to genuine knowledge as a gift from God. Along with being taught to believe in our God, MBS students are taught that our belief calls us to serve each other. Our students are empowered with the skills to be leaders in their faith communities as well as in the communities in which they reside. Finally, our students are taught that finding success takes hard work and effort. Please plan to join us as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2018!

MASS CHANGE
On Thursday, January 18th our school will not attend Mass. Instead, we will attend Mass on Friday, January 19th at 8:30 a.m. to show our solidarity with the Right to Life March in Washington, D.C. that will take place on that date. Our students and faculty will join the parishioners of St. John Neumann Parish in their prayers for our nation's leaders that all may work to protect human life from conception to natural death. All are welcome to join us. Our wonderful 8th grade will pray the Rosary for Life following Mass.

COLD WEATHER...
The colder weather is here! We would like to remind parents that on days when the temperature is 35 degrees or lower, children must have a coat to wear in order to participate in outdoor recess. Girls will be allowed to put on their gym sweatpants under their skirts or jumpers for recess on cold days. Please be sure that children are dressed for cold weather each day and especially on Thursday when we walk to Mass.

WEATHER RELATED SCHOOL CLOSINGS
Our school is in a somewhat extraordinary situation when one considers our attendance area. We have students who attend from as far away as Seaford, DE, Lewes, DE and Newark, MD. Given such a wide area, there are several conditions that must be considered when making a determination to delay or close school when weather and road conditions are questionable. First and foremost is student and driver safety. There certainly some days on which the decision is a "no brainer." When there is question about what is the best decision, we consult with our bus companies and law enforcement in Maryland and Delaware. Please be assured that the decision to open, delay or close school is not made in an arbitrary fashion. We make every effort to make a decision that is in the best interest of student, parent and staff safety. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

BLIZZARD BAGS
In anticipation of inclement weather and subsequent unsafe road conditions that would cause us to close school, our school has implemented the "Blizzard Bags" program. Children will bring home their Blizzard Bags that contain assignments to be completed on those days on which school is closed for weather related reasons. Each child is expected to complete the assigned work and return it to his/her teacher when school resumes. In doing so, we will not be required to "make-up" the days missed. It is very important that all students complete the assignments as provided. Your cooperation in assuring that assignments are completed is very much appreciated. If a student has difficulty with an assignment, the parent is asked to communicate with the child's teacher so that guidance may be provided and additional time for completion will be given. Thank you!

Vision Statement

Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School provides rigorous and technologically relevant instruction that is intentionally integrated with Catholic identity.  Together, as Pastors, administrators, teachers and parents, we nurture the development of the mind, the body, and the soul, in each of our students.  Our students are able to make sound decisions based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and modeled upon the lives of the saints.  As a faith and learning community, we teach students a passion for the truth and a love for discovery and knowledge. Our students are prepared to relate their Catholic faith to their culture and actively live their faith as members of the greater community.
