Wildfire Prevention Funding Opportunity 
 
The Strategic Wildfire Prevention Initiative (SWPI) provides grant funding and guidance to BC communities to mitigate the threat of wildfire. Program guides and application forms for fuel management and FireSmart planning are now available for the recently announced initial 2018 intake. Read more 
Last Chance to Register for Leadership Forum
 
Registration for the LGLA's 2018 Leadership Forum, January 31-Feburary 2 in Richmond, is open until January 17, but the remaining spots are filling up quickly.  This year's keynote will be delivered by Shachi Kurl, Executive Director of the Angus Reid Institute, who will discuss public perceptions on key issues facing BC local governments, including respectful conduct, civic engagement, reconciliation, cannabis legalization and climate change. Appointments to RCMP Contract Management Committee
 
UBCM is currently looking to appoint local government representatives from RCMP policed jurisdictions to the British Columbia Local Government Contract Management Committee (LGCMC). Four vacancies are required to be filled by local government elected officials or staff members. Read more  
Emergency Operations Centres Funding
 
The Emergency Operations Centres and Training funding stream is accepting applications to support the purchase of equipment and supplies required to maintain or improve Emergency Operations Centres (EOC) and to enhance EOC capacity through training and exercises. Applications are being accepted until Friday February 2nd. Read more 
Recognizing Partnerships in Salmo
 
Through a public-private partnership, the Village of Salmo has successfully transformed two long-standing brownfield lots into an arts and culture hub and apprentice shop called the "Heritage Hub."  This project is a 2017 winner of a Community Excellence Award. Read more
