In partnership with the National Civil Rights Museum's year-long commemoration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., SCS schools are hosting events and projects to educate and inform students about the importance of community involvement and spreading a message of peace. If your students are working on events, programs or service projects related to MLK50,
we want to know! Your school or class could be featured in the local media and in our SCS Newsroom!

Tennessee’s Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs project, GEAR UP TN, wants to help ensure your high school students are college ready! GEAR UP is currently accepting applications to provide up to $9 million in grants to eligible high schools and their partners to implement college access initiatives. Teachers, do you know a student who might be this generation's Neil Armstrong? Remind him or her to
apply for a scholarship valued at $3,000 to attend a week-long space camp in Huntsville, AL. The Mars Project is seeking ambitious students ages 15-17 to apply for an
out of this world experience during summer break. Hurry! The deadline for applications is
January 15!
