The Clinic at Cat Care Society
|
We are excited to welcome Kathleen Hoover, our new Clinic Manager. This is a new position at Cat Care Society, and will serve to increase and improve the impact The Cat Clinic has on the shelter pets and in the community. Kathleen recently moved to Denver from her hometown of Kansas City. She was the Veterinary Practice Manager at Lawrence Veterinary Hospital for 5 years and prior to that was the Shelter Manager at the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City for 2 years. She has a degree in Architecture from the University of Kansas. Kathleen brings with her a wealth of knowledge in operating an animal hospital as well as a passion for our feline friends.
Kathleen has a heart for the "special" fur kids and has adopted animals with various medical and behavioral challenges. She currently has a Cornish Rex cat named Wanda who was rescued from a physically abusive owner. Kathleen has also had the pleasure of sharing her heart and home with a sassy torti girl and a blind buff boy as well as a boxer, a pit bull, and a French bulldog. She enjoys hiking in the mountains and exploring downtown Denver.
Join us in welcoming Kathleen to Colorado! The next time you are by the shelter, stop by the Clinic to say hello. Her door is always open should you have questions, comments, or concerns about The Cat Clinic. She is looking forward to meeting you all!

We had 27 adoptions in February, and one was very special. Lapis, a young adult lady who is both FIV and FeLV, found her forever home. We're so happy for her and know she is in a wonderful place.
A very generous supporter donated a full size Shark vacuum to the shelter. Thank you so much!
The first pregnant mom has arrived at CCS and has been sent to foster care until her kittens are born. The kittens will remain in foster care until they are big enough for adoption.
One of our new residents at the shelter is a beautiful silver Bengal.
Please come in and meet this unusual girl!
We are very much in need of canned cat food for the shelter and the food bank. Please help if you can...we appreciate your support!

March can be a scary month as National Alien Abduction Day is on March 20th. There are various tactics to prevent abduction, but by far the best is the purr of a cat. A cat's purr, also known as Pallasethesia Ultroneous Radular Rataplan, produces a sound wave that supposedly aliens cannot tolerate. All cats purr, some louder than others, but if you have a cat with you it will ensure your safety from aliens! Bingo Night with the
Denver Cycle Sluts to
Benefit Our Cats

FUNdraising Opportunity!
Come join the Denver Cycle Sluts for a fun evening of bingo supporting the Cat Care Society! The Denver Cycle Sluts are an LGBTQ friendly drag comedy troupe dedicated to supporting Denver area community charities. Every month they select a charity which will benefit from their fundraising event. Cat Care Society was fortunate to have been chosen for the March event.

This is a fundraiser which is also full of fun and laughter. Between bingo games the performers will sing, dance and collect donations for CCS. You are welcome to bring dollar bills to tip the performers. All tips collected by Denver Cycle Sluts are presented for donation to the selected charity. Performers also sell raffle tickets for a gift basket which will be provided by the Cat Care Society. This is a fun evening of bawdy entertainment. Fair warning...it is not
your grandmother's bingo, so get ready for catty comments and hilarity

Fostering Kittens

Presenter: CCS Shelter Manager, Rianda Copeland, and Liz Holland, Veterinary Technician
March 24, 2018 10:30AM to noon at Cat Care Society (in the lower level of main shelter)
Our own staff, Rianda Copeland and Liz Holland, will present this interesting seminar on fostering kittens. Kitten season will soon be upon us, and we will have many kittens in need of foster care. We are always looking for good foster parents, so if you are thinking of volunteering as a foster this would be a great seminar to attend. It is a good refresher for current foster parents as well. Please plan to attend!

Moekie is a sweet senior looking for her forever home! Moekie is so healthy and active that it's hard to believe she is 14! She is a talker and promptly lets you know she wants some of those treats hiding in your pocket. When you spend time alone with her, she is quick to show her affectionate and loving side. Moekie doesn't care for other cats and wants to be queen of the castle.
She is on a special diet and takes an oral steroid for digestive issues, but she is well worth it.

The Importance of Neutering
|
Every year 13-15 million dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters. These are the ones lucky enough to end up at caring animal shelters. The rest are not as fortunate and die from accidents, starvation, exposure, poisoning, disease, abuse, or neglect. The best way to prevent the continuous breeding of domestic pets is by neutering. A male cat can father thousands of offspring in his lifetime. A female can easily have 100 kittens in her productive life.
Cat Care Society is dedicated to controlling pet overpopulation. We spay or neuter every cat that is adopted out from our shelter, and the cost is included in the adoption fee.
We offer low cost spay and neuter procedures at the Clinic at Cat Care Society. If you have a cat that has not been neutered, please do your part toward population control and have this done for your pet. Every single one makes a difference!

Painting For Paws
April 27, 2018

CCS is hosting a special art event on Friday, April 27th, from 6pm to 9pm. Painting for Paws will be an evening of painting including available instruction beginning at 6:30PM. Participants will be painting "swirlcat" (see inserted image) or if people want to bring a photo of their own cat to paint they can do so. Paint, brushes, and canvases will be provided.
The price is $40, and $20 of each ticket sale goes directly to the cats! Space is limited, so please sign up early. Tickets may be purchased from the Cat Care Society. Please stop by or call 303-239-9680 x 2. Tickets can be mailed to purchasers.
Painting for Paws will be held at the
Teller Street Gallery-7190 W. 38th Avenue (near Wadsworth) in Wheat Ridge.
There will also be a prize drawing with the ticket stubs at the gallery and a cash bar.

Please tune in to Channel 9 on March 29th at 4:30PM for Petline 9. This is a community service spot which highlights pet organizations. Our Director of Outreach will be on air and will be interviewed about our mission at Cat Care Society. She will also introduce the viewers to one of our more outgoing kitties.
