Silver Award, Ellie - Troop 9827

Check out this leader! Ellie from Troop 9327 worked in various community gardens and developed an original coloring/activity book about fresh fruits and vegetables which she later donated to the kids at the Nehemiah Center.

In connection with the Alabama Extension Service, she turned over and planted new vegetable beds at the Loveless Community Center and cleared out the raised beds area at Halcyon Elementary School. The residents of the neighborhood there cultivate and harvest the garden.

She also rented bed space in the Cloverdale Community Garden, which is near where her troop meets. She raised vegetables and donated the produce to the Salvation Army and Montgomery Area Food Banks. She also taught  Brownie Girl Scouts about gardening, and they collected rainwater for the raised beds as part of their badge work. Congrats, Ellie!
