NEWMS to honor five female leaders at Women of Distinction luncheon

TUPELO - New Expectations for Women in
Mississippi will recognize several women and
one organization at the upcoming Women of Distinction luncheon.
"We asked for nominations for women who have spent time, resources and most of all, her hope and heart, to cultivating a better, healthier community, where women and families can thrive," said CREATE Foundation director of marketing and NEWMS member, Albine Bennett.
The event will be at 11:30 a.m. March 8 at the BancorpSouth Conference Center.
Five women and one organization will be honored this year for their work as role models and their achievem
ents in the community.
"We looked at women who have made a significant difference in the community by their giving, by being strong supporters or activists
. We had several community members turning in names of people who had made an impression on them," said Boys & Girls Club of North Mississippi chief executive officer and NEWMS member, Zell Long.
This year's women of distinction include Juanita Floyd of Belden; Shawn Brevard, Kay Matthews and Nettie Davis of Tupelo and Patty Tucker of Shannon.
