The culinary battle will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 and will be held in the Technology Center lobby until 1 p.m. Participants can submit chili creations into the mild or Tickle Your Tastebuds category; medium or Warm 'N Fuzzy category; and hot or Melt Your Face Off category.

Registration forms for individuals or groups are available in the SLC and must be turned in by Feb. 5 in order to play. For questions about the basketball leagues, contact Jereme Jones at jereme@k-state.edu or 785-741-5463.
Winners announced in campus scavenger hunt

The second Polytechnic Campus scavenger hunt has ended in success!

After releasing clues for the game starting Jan. 16, it was announced only four days later that the faculty/staff prize had been found in the morning and the student prize discovered a few hours later in the afternoon. The scavenger hunt jackpot, two $50 campus bookstore gift certificates, was hidden in the tutoring room in the library.

Ben  Schaub, sophomore in UAS design and integration, scored the student prize while Kathy Sanders, assistant  registrar, and Amanda Pope, e nrollment management assistant, found the faculty/staff prize.

Since the gift certificates were spotted so quickly, only four clues were able to be released. But if you are curious about their meaning, check out the translations below:
  1. Science of Craft: This is the Greek translation for "technology," which should lead to the Technology Center.
  2.  Where guided learning happens: Tutoring is guided learning; some may also thing of guided learning as the library.
  3.  Axis of Learning: The center of learning, meaning the library is centrally located in the Tech Center.
  4.  Not quite Alexandria: This is a reference to the Ptolemaic library of the Ptolemy dynasty, which is the largest and most significant library of the ancient world.Link

A high-five is one of the most recognizable ways two people can share excitement or celebrate a job well done. Kansas State Polytechnic's CEO and Dean Verna Fitzsimmons awards her high-five each week to honor faculty, staff and students for their dedication to the university.

High-five to the enrollment management team for their increase in spring semester numbers!

Congratulations to Dr. Christopher Smith and his team in admissions/enrollment management for their persistence and hard work in building on our recruiting numbers. When compared to last year's spring semester, there has been a 12 percent increase in applications as well as 16 percent growth in enrolled/registered students. You are laying a very strong foundation for finding future Wildcats and I am excited to watch your continued progress. Thank you Dr. Smith, Ashley, Dion, Kris, Kevin, Jessica and Jackie!
