Newsletter: Week of Jan 8, 2018

From the Director of Community Development

Sarah Chandonnet

This Sunday, January 14th,
the Humanist Hub is starting off the new year with something different.
We are drawing on our community of humanists, agnostics, atheists, and religious allies to create a Hub-grown speaking event. We're going to be showcasing a handful of powerful voices from within the Hub community. In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this Sunday's speakers will focus on the themes and spirit of Dr. King and his legacy. Speakers will talk about how the Hub may better live up to its value of  action .

More than just giving lip service to ideals, this Sunday's talk will be combined with clear and actionable ways our community can begin working to actualize our values.

The Values in Action committee - recently rebooted and moving quickly - will present its initial projects to the community. We will be collecting coats as part of our commitment to our Cambridge community and we will provide our members with some simple and effective ways that they can take action to help those in need both outside and within the Hub community.

Please bring a new or gently used coat if you have one you'd like to donate.

These are exciting times for the Hub. The speakers that came to the Hub last semester have energized and inspired us to live up to our values. This will be a showing of voices from within the community that will showcase what we care about, what we hurt about, and what we are going to do about it. 1:30-3:00pm, 30 JFK Street.
