MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL JANE TODD.
Dear Families:
This time of year for me has always been about attuning to the cycles of nature and doing what the trees are doing: shedding what is no longer valid or useful, soaking up the rain, storing food (well, and eating quite a bit of it as well), using the dark to sleep deeply, and waiting with bated breath for spring. I have long loved the glow of candlelight on a dark winter's night, the warmth of a fire, the faces of my friends and family as we come together around a table. And I use the quiet and the dark to take stock and count my blessings. Read more...

PANTRY PACKS PROGRAM. Did you know there are many students in the Redmond Learning Community who are food-insecure and go hungry over the weekends? The Pantry Packs program, powered by the Lake Washington Schools Foundation, is a volunteer-run food assistance program that provides weekend food for our hungry students. Over the years, it has grown to serve 43 schools in Lake Washington School District. As the district grows, so does the need. The Pantry Packs program is supported by local food drives and general fundraisers.  While immensely helpful, the need has grown so great that these will not be enough to fully support the program. Feed Washington is a local non-profit that is partnering with Pantry Packs is running the Pantry Packs Holiday Hunger Campaign.  The goal of the online fundraiser, which will run December 4-17, is to raise the additional funds that are necessary to fully fund the Pantry Packs program for 2017-2018. A donation of $25 will provide a hungry student with weekend food for a month.  It is a small amount with a big impact.  Our hope is that we -- as individuals and communities with so much at our disposal -- will contribute and ensure that none of the children in our schools comes to school hungry on Mondays. For more information, view the campaign page at www.feedwashington.org/holidayhungercampaign or contact Katy Philips at katy@feedwashington.org. To learn more about the Pantry Packs program visit www.lwsf.org/pantrypacks
