Ice-capades...

WOW! What a crazy weather week. Our thanks, again to our community for your patience and understanding as we navigated the icy streets and sidewalks. Everyone did a great job of improvising and adapting to the needs of the day. Here's hoping for a full week of school next week, sans any weather surprises...

Throughout this newsletter, you will see pictures of our students hard at work on their continent study. A reminder that we look forward to welcoming everyone at our  All-School Open House: Exploring Africa, on Wednesday, January 31st. The doors will open at 8:45-9am for coffee/tea and a light breakfast treat. From 9-10am you can tour our classrooms to see the students' projects related to African culture, environs and history. We hope you can plan to join us!

We ended the week with a lovely All-School Morning Meeting which featured a presentation by our 5th graders. The students shared their atom projects,  showing  the constructions they had created, and sharing some information they had learned about the element each student had selected to study.

There were some great questions from some of our younger students as they tried to imagine how long such a project would have taken to create, and just how atoms really work.

Please take a look at the Community Corner below for some information on upcoming events, including one this Saturday afternoon at SNHU where the Women's Basketball Team will be playing their annual Pink Game in the SNHU Fieldhouse. Check out the details below.

Community Corner

On Saturday, January 27th, the SNHU Women's Basketball Team is hosting their 13th Annual Penmen Pink Day - a great family-oriented day which also seeks to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Enjoy a great game, as well as Pink Day festivities like raffles and a kid's corner and see art created by Mill Falls Students on display! As many of you know, our own Ms. Alyssa is one of the Assistant Coaches of the Women's Team and she'd love to see a great MFCS showing! Click here to view the flyer for more details.

As you've seen in photographs from earlier this school year, members of the Junior Monarchs Team volunteer as reading buddies at Mill Falls as well as at other schools around town. As thanks to the schools for providing the Team with volunteer opportunities, they invite all members of those school communities to their Appreciation Game on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2pm.  The game will be held at Tri-Town Ice Arena, 311 W. River Road, Hooksett, NH . Students are free, adults are $5 each or $10 for a family. Please note, this is not a school-sponsored event.

Save the Date: Night of Community
Plans for our 3rd Annual Night of Community are falling into place!

Please plan to join us on June 9th at 6pm for an adult gathering and celebration in support of our school community.

This year, we have a new venue partner - the Palace Theatre! MFCS event organizers, Rachel Marziano and Mel Johansson are hard at work with ideas for the event, which will be held in the Palace's newest space, just beside the Theatre on Hannover Street.

This annual event provides a wonderful opportunity for adults in our community to spend time together while raising critical funds for our school.

To learn more about the event, and find out how you can lend a hand, please contact Rachel Marziano.
