Today's global society is overwhelmed with misinformation and opinions, while the value of facts is being forgotten. RAND President & CEO, Michael Rich, identifies this process as "truth decay". To better understand the "erosion of respect for facts and evidence" Rich asked RAND Political Scientist, Jennifer Kavanagh ( read full bio), to design a research agenda to study its causes and consequences.

What are the dangers of turning our backs on facts? Can it be stopped? As we begin a new year, it's critical that we address this issue and remind ourselves that facts still matter.
