National Geographic Bee

Calling all 4th & 5th Graders!!

The National Geographic Bee is going to be held at Walnut Grove for the very first time!  We are also the first elementary school in our district to host this fabulous competition.

This annual event is designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world around us, to learn more about maps, places and landscapes, its people and cultures, flora and fauna,  and history and economies. National Geographic provides resources to prepare for the Bee by clicking here  . Sample questions and further information will be emailed to all registered students.

The Geographic Bee will take place  on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 4:00pm and is open to all 4th and 5th grade students . Our school champion has the opportunity to take the online qualifying test be considered for advancement to the state Bee.

To register, please follow this link and submit the form by Friday, January 19, 2018.  This event is sponsored by the PTA and is free for all students.

We are also in need of some volunteers to help with this event.  If you would like to help out, please contact Deepta Rao at raodeepta@gmail.com .

Donut Fun for Everyone

Save the Date - Donut Fun for Everyone! will be on Wednesday, February 7, 2018

In previous years, we have had a "Donuts with Dad" event and a "Mornings with Mom" event. For this school year we are doing something different - we are having one, all-inclusive event, for all of the special caregivers in our kids lives. It is called "Donut Fun for Everyone!" It will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 8:15-9:15am. We hope to see you there!

If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact Christina Mantha at nystromc@georgetown.edu.

5th Grade Baby Photos

It's that time of year again to submit baby photos for our school yearbook.   Beginning on Tuesday, January 9th, all 5th grade classrooms will have an envelope in their room where they can submit actual photographs, or you can submit them digitally to wgbabyphotos@gmail.com.  Whether submitting an actual photo or a digital copy, please make sure to label your photo with the students name and teacher. All actual photographs will be returned to you.

Please note:  We are in need of high quality, high resolution photos.  Grainy or under/over exposed photos cannot be used, so please submit high resolution photos.

Also, if for some reason you wish to opt out and do not want your child's baby photo in the yearbook, please email the name & teacher to the above email address and let us know.

If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Schieder.
