Greetings,

I don't know about you, but I was really struck by Jeff's message this past Sunday. And by struck, I mean he stepped on my toes a bit! Truth be known, I like when a message hits me like that. It reminds me that the Holy Spirit is working to convict me of where my life is out of balance or off center from God's perspective.

What was it that Jeff said that got to me, you ask? I can't say exactly. What I can say is that I realize that too often I'm measuring my life and my happiness by the lives of those around me. My contentment is wrapped up in how my life compares to their life.  Or, at least how my life compares to my perception of their life.

I'm not sure that parable of the vineyard workers ever really impacted me the way it did Sunday, but I'm glad it did. Just realizing the error of my ways has made life better. This is, of course, on ongoing process.

I say all that to say how good it is to be in this place and to feel the Holy Spirit at work so obviously and powerfully. I feel it when we gather together in worship. I sense the presence of God in the chatter and laughter of people in the new cafe. God is up to something here in this place, I just feel it deep in my bones. I hope that's true for you. I hope it's true enough that you invite others to come and experience the presence of God in and through the people of First Methodist Conroe.

Thanks for being God's hand in my life. Much love to you all,

Mike Lindstrom
Executive Pastor at First Methodist Conroe

January Prayer Calendar

This month, we focus spiritual gifts. The term, spiritual gift, comes from the Greek phrase Chrismata or Charisma, and is defined as, "a gift of grace." This means we, as Christians, are given a "favor" or a "special gift" to do the work of ministry on behalf of, and empowered by, our Lord Jesus Christ.
