Town Hall & Congregational Meetings
Town Hall meetings will be held at each campus in advance of February's Congregational Meeting. This will give members a chance to hear about the proposed bylaw amendments and ask questions of the UCH board.

Celebrate the Future - Stewardship Potluck! Come Join Us!!!

Gather the Spirit Toiletries Collection
The Common Ground Community Center serves from 60 to 120 people each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On a normal day there are 15 to 20 requests for toiletry items which are filled only through the generosity of interested churches, and organizations. Guests are limited to receiving toiletry assistance to twice a month.
There are
storage bins outside the sanctuary of
Clover Lane
and
Market Street
campuses. Please help fill these bins with items which make such a difference to quality of life for our neighbors who live on very limited incomes
.
Toiletries are not eligible for purchase through the food stamp program.
The items below were suggested by CGCC attendees. After the toiletries are donated, CGCC volunteers sort and distribute according to individual needs.

Worship Visioning Potluck/Workshop
January 31 @ 6 pm (Clover Lane)
What is the purpose of UU worship? What are your hopes for the future worship life of the church? How do we welcome the stranger? How do we build bridges and celebrate community through our worship ministries? What comforts us? What challenges us to spiritual growth?
Please join the Worship Team to discuss these questions and more at a potluck and visioning meeting as we begin planning for March-May. This will occur on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Clover Lane. Please bring a dish to share to the Common Room for a 6:00 p.m. meal, followed by a 7:00 p.m. workshop in the sanctuary. The event is open to UCH members and friends. Rev. Lyn will facilitate. Volunteer & Community Engagement Fair
The annual Volunteer Fair will be held Sunday, February 4th at Market Street and Sunday, February 11th at Clover Lane following services.
The Fair is a fun way to find out what all is going on and how you can be a bigger part of the action.

We are currently seeking lay liturgists for April and ongoing. All materials will be provided in addition to support and guidance from experienced lay liturgists. If you are interested in becoming a lay liturgist, please contact Julie Brown to schedule a one-on-one training session.

Daring Democracy
UUA Common Read & Author Visit
The UUA Common Read Selection Committee has chosen Daring Democracy as one of the 2017-18 Common Reads. The challenges, the call, and the opportunity of this moment in Unitarian Universalism and in the broader US American society are compelling. We must be prepared and willing to look outward and act to lift up Unitarian Universalist values in the political and civic challenges of our time.
Daring Democracy: Igniting Power, Meaning, and Connection for the America We Want, by Frances Moore Lappé and Adam Eichen, examines the anti-democracy movement that has led to the Trump presidency, then offers a vision and call to action to save our democracy and to take our civic life to a place it has never been.
Mark your calendars! The co-author of Daring Democracy, Adam Eichen, will speak at UCH on
March 6, 2018. You will not want to miss his presentation. Copies of Daring Democracy will be on sale for $10. at coffee hour each

Share the Plate
January 2018
January's Share the Plate partner is a UUA funding campaign called, "The Promise and the Practice."
Congregations are asked to learn about the broken promises of the past, to recognize the promise in UU lay and professional leaders who are People of Color and to support them, and to promise and practice a new commitment to dismantling white supremacy in our UU congregations and faith movement. "The Promise and the Practice" is a learning and spiritual growth opportunity, and it is also a fundraising opportunity to fulfill a commitment made by our Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations to Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism (Black Lives of UU or BLUU). At our Market Street church, parking is designated for seniors and handicap parking in front of the church and in the small lot across from the church on Market Street. Parking is also currently available in the MLK church lot across the street on Market Street, in the grass lot directly behind our Market Street church, or along the street.

As the weather begins to greet us with snow, ice and all things wintry, this is a reminder about our policies for delays or cancellations:
1) Closures will be posted on the home page of our website, so check there first.
2) Call the Church at 717.564.4761 for any special announcements regarding delays or cancellations of services/events.
3) Tune into one of the following stations and/or visit their websites. Update times differ from station to station. If you don't see us listed, please check another station.
- Radio: WITF 89.5
- Television: ABC 27, CBS 21, CW15, FOX 43, and WITF.
4) In some cases, an email news blast may be sent as well so please check your email.
