2018 Annual Meeting
Registration Is Now Open!

Appellate Practice Section Luncheon
Join the Appellate Practice Section for a brown bag lunch at noon, May 18, at the State Bar Center with guest Judge Daniel Gallegos of the New Mexico Court of Appeals. The lunch is informal and is intended to create an opportunity for appellate practitioners to learn more about the work of the Court. BBC to Make Appointment to the ABA House of Delegates
The Board of Bar Commissioners will make one appointment to the American Bar Association House of Delegates for a two-year term, which will expire at the conclusion of the 2020 ABA Annual Meeting.  The delegate must be willing to attend meetings or otherwise complete his/her term and responsibilities without reimbursement or compensation from the State Bar. However, the ABA provides reimbursement for expenses to attend the ABA mid-year meetings.  Members who want to serve on the board must be a current ABA member in good standing and should send a letter of interest and brief résumé by May 4 to Kris Becker at [email protected] or fax to 505-828-3765.
In Memoriam: John J. Duhigg
John J. Duhigg, respected Albuquerque attorney and State Bar member of more than 60 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 24. His family and the attorneys and staff at The Duhigg Law Firm invite members of the State Bar and legal community to a service at 10 a.m. at Bosque School (4000 Learning Road Northwest, Albuquerque) on Saturday, April 28. Law Day CLE
Join the Paralegal Division from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m., April 28, at the State Bar Center for Law Day CLE. This program will cover slip and fall accidents, personal injury claims and patent prosecution. Risk Management Advisory Board
The president of the State Bar of New Mexico is required to appoint one attorney to the Risk Management Advisory Board for a four-year term.  The appointee is requested to attend the Risk Management Advisory Board meetings.  A summary of the duties of the advisory board, pursuant to §15-7-5 NMSA 1978. Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Board
The president of the State Bar is required to appoint one attorney to the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Board for a three-year term.  The appointee is expected to attend the Annual Trustees Meeting and the Annual Institute, make annual reports to the appropriate officers of their respective organizations, actively assist the Foundation on its programs and publications and promote the programs, publications and objectives of the Foundation. Members who want to serve on the board should send a letter of interest and brief résumé by July 2 to Kris Becker at [email protected] or fax to 505-828-3765.
Seeking Nominations for the 2018 Annual Awards
Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 State Bar of New Mexico Annual Awards to recognize those who have distinguished themselves or who have made exemplary contributions to the State Bar or legal profession in 2017 or 2018. The awards will be presented during the 2018 Annual Meeting Aug. 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, Santa Ana Pueblo. The deadline for nominations is June 1. Albuquerque Bar Association Law Day Luncheon
The Albuquerque Bar Association Annual Law Day Luncheon registration is now open! Join us from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on May 1, at the Embassy Suites Hotel located at 1000 Woodward Pl NE in Albuquerque. With generous support from the Thornburg Foundation, our speaker this year is Trevor Potter. Potter is one of the country's most prominent and experienced campaign and election lawyers. To many, he is perhaps best known for his appearances on the Colbert Report as the lawyer for Stephen Colbert's Super PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, during the 2012 election.
