Nurturing Collaboration, Reflection, and Creativity through Music
Katonah-Lewisboro School District offers a robust music curriculum through general music classes and opportunities to participate in choral and instrumental performing ensembles.

Come inside the elementary, middle, and high school rehearsal spaces and meet some of the conductors who inspire students to grow as musicians, as people, and as a community. WATCH
John Jay's Winter Concert Season
January 10 | Music Technology and Choral Concert
A concert featuring digital compositions by students in John Jay’s Music Technology program, taught by Amy Geiger, as well as performances by the John Jay Chorale, conducted by Steven Morse.

Highlights include senior Jack McMahon’s award-winning composition, “ Free Flying, ” and “ Sleep ,” a contemporary piece by Eric Whitacre.
January 14 | Band Concert
A program of music from John Jay’s Concert Band, a freshman ensemble; Symphonic Band, made up of sophomores through seniors; and Wind Ensemble, a select group; all conducted by Jeff Richardson.

Highlights include “The Blue and the Gray," a medley of folk songs of the Civil War woven together by Clare Grundman, and “Normandy Beach,” a spirited march. 
January 16 | Orchestra Concert
Performances by John Jay’s Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra, both conducted by Steven Morse.

Favorites include “The Great Gate at Kiev” by Modest Mussorgsky—an emotional piece with lots of brass and percussion which adds to the beauty of the strings, and themes from Vivaldi's “Gloria,” a choral piece adapted for strings.
January 22 | Jazz Concert
Performances by John Jay’s Jazz Bands and Vocal Jazz, conducted by Steven Morse, and three student-run a capella groups: The Notables, The Rolling Tones, and The Treblemakers.

Vocal Jazz highlights include pieces prepared for the prestigious Berklee High School Jazz Festival: Shirley Horn's " Come Back to Me" and The Real Group's “Chili Con Carne.”
The free concerts take place at 7:00 p.m. at the John Jay High School Theatre.
All are welcome!
January 28 | Middle School Band Concert
The Sixth Grade Band will perform at 7:00 p.m. and the Seventh and Eighth Grade Band will perform at 7:45 p.m.

Highlights of the two-band program include "Ancient Voices" by Michael Sweeney--a piece in which the whole ensemble gets to be part of the percussion section by using their pencils--and "Advance March" by Harold Bennett, a classic marching piece.
