Dujkas, Mikulas, & The Big 3!
Join us Saturday at the KC Hall in Schulenburg for the National Polka Month Dance with the Dujka Brothers. It's a fundraiser for the International Polka Association, and we're going to congratulate Mark and John on receiving a Best Song award from the IPA for their recording of
Church Picnic Polka. Silent auction with lots of cool stuff, including Pat Vrazel's famous chocolate chip cookies! Door prizes, too!
And is this the first church picnic of the year? Well, technically it's called a Polka Dance & Dinner at the Nativity Church in Penelope. Jodie Mikula provides the music for the Polka Mass and for the afternoon of dancing. And of course, there's a great meal that will bust the Weight Watchers smart points system!
Speaking of food (can you tell I've started a diet??!?), fried gizzards and chicken noodle soup are the food stars at the 31st Annual El Campo Polka Fest at Taiton Community Center on Sunday. 3 Bands! Leo Majek Orchestra, Red Ravens, Fritz Hodde & Fab 6.
Actually, you can start out the weekend at a Soup Tasting Supper fundraiser on Friday night. The Fort Bend Czech Heritage Society is hosting this event at the KC Hall in Needville. Featured soups: sauerkraut, chicken noodle, vegetable beef, potato, and Czech gulas. (Hungry yet?) Mason Nesvadba, Dan and Darrell Pavlas, and other musicians will provide the music.
