What is this survey about?
Every year, NAFSA Region VII offers several professional development Pre-Conference Workshops such as: F-1 Student Advising for Beginners, and Risk Assessment and Crisis Management in EA Programming, and others.
The workshops use specialized curricula developed by NAFSA and are led by subject matter experts in our region who are part of NAFSA's
Trainer Corps Program.
As part of our planning, Region VII would like YOUR input on the types of workshops to offer at the 2018 NAFSA Region 7 Conference coming up in Memphis, TN at The Peabody Hotel, November 10 - 14, 2018.

Responding to Mental Health Issues in International Education:
Student mental health issues are a growing crisis within higher education and mishandled situations can lead to serious student and institutional consequences. International educators need to be informed, savvy, and most of all, prepared to identify and address the mental health challenges their students struggle with while on campus and when participating in education abroad programs.
NAFSA
has an important new e-learning series (webinar) on mental health issues impacting study abroad students and incoming international student.

International Perspectives on University Teaching and Learning Symposium -
Call for Proposals and Registration Open
Hosted by Auburn University, International Perspectives on University Teaching and Learning brings together a diverse community of teaching and learning professionals, international educators, policy makers, administrators and researchers dedicated to internationalizing teaching in higher education. The symposium is scheduled for May 30 - June 1, 2018 at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando, Florida.
A wide range of relevant ideas will be addressed during the symposium.

2018 FAIE Annual State Conference
The FAIE State Conference registration is available at an early-bird rate of $130 until Monday, January 14. The rate will go up to $150 on January 15, and after February 9, payment and registration must be done onsite. There are still some rooms available at the special FAIE rate Best Western Bayfront St. Augustine. You can visit the Best Western site now to book your stay.

Please note that we are also offering two pre-conference workshops: F-1 Beginners and F-1 Intermediate Thursday, February 15. GAIE is looking for individuals to fill leadership positions! If you think you'd like to be involved as Secretary/Treasurer, Chair-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer-Elect, Advocacy State Representative, or Webmaster for 2018-2019 - or you know someone else who you think would be a great fit, please send an email to GAIE. Self-nomination is accepted. All positions will be voted upon at the Winter Conference with the exception of the Webmaster, whose position is appointed by the Chair and Executive Committee.

Georgia 2018 International Leadership Conference
The Georgia International Leadership Conference (GILC) will be April 13-15, 2018.
This annual student leadership conference brings together 200 international and study abroad students from across the state. The intense weekend is full of leadership development and intercultural simulations and fun!

The Global Debate Forum and the Barkley Forum for Debate, Deliberation and Dialogue Tournament
The Global Debate Forum and the Barkley Forum for Debate, Deliberation, and Dialogue at Emory University are pleased to invite students to participate in its fifth annual intercollegiate Global Debate Tournament for international students in the Southeast. Absolutely no debate experience is required - we welcome everyone to participate!
This year's tournament will be held on February 24th starting at 9 am.

The 2018 SCAIE Annual Conference will be held on Friday, March 16

, 2018 at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Members are encouraged to
submit a session proposal
for the Annual Conference by February 2, 2018.

University of South Carolina Standards of Good Practice Workshops
From 8 am to - 12 pm (EST)
This workshop focuses on Student Learning, Development and the Academic Framework for Education Abroad and will help you to identify the resources and design programming to assist in this effort. Through simulations involving specific examples, participants will address critical issues often introduced by colleagues in higher education who are unfamiliar with the importance of tying these two areas together in education abroad.
From 1 pm to 5 pm (EST) This workshop provides the answers you need by focusing on Policies and Procedures (Standard 6) and the Organizational and Program Resources (Standard 7). The Forum on Education Abroad's workshops focus on issues of concern to the field of education abroad. Through discussion and analysis of specific case studies participants will explore how these two Standards can assist an organization in attaining more effective use of resources through the proper implementation of policies.
