Calling all interested students!
The Milton MIST Team will begin registration for the
Atlanta Regional Tournament on January 1 until mid-February.
MIST is the
Muslim Interscholastic Tournament, which aims to teach students
(regardless of faith) about combating stereotypes and promoting love, regardless of race, national origin, gender, religion, and other differences among students. We compete in a tournament at the regional level in March, and top four students in each competition move onto nationals over the summer.
Milton MIST is
one of the best teams in the Southeast- we are the Southeast's largest team, and won first place overall team last year,
with 42 of our 49 competitors advancing to nationals!
If you are interested in competing, please fill out the following link, preferably by January 31, so we can get registration done on time:
Please note that competitions are first-come, first-serve. MIST is a great competition with a lovely team, and looks wonderful on college applications. Competitions are divided into six main categories:
- Academic Tests
- Art
- Writing
- Bracket Competitions
- Team Projects
- Sports (Basketball and Soccer)
Interested students can contact girlmz@hotmail.com with further questions about MIST competitions and how the tournament works.
Competitions are centered around a yearly theme, and this year's is "The Valor of Mercy: Summoning the Strength of Compassion and Justice". This year, the tournament will be at UGA from March 23 to March 25, and students will get an excused absence for missed school. A hotel stay will be arranged by the MIST leadership for competitors, coaches, and guests. There is a price associated with registration, and scholarships are available to students with financial need (please email us if you need a scholarship).
If Milton MIST reaches 55 members, we will be the largest team in the nation! Help us reach that enormous milestone this year! Our MIST Leadership this year is:
Captain - Maria Zulfiqar
Registration/Logistics Lead - Tasneem Wahid
Spirit Leads - Rithwik Koppaka and Hasan Tauha
We hope to see many new faces on our team this year!
