Denver to hold permitting event for marijuana facilities March 7
On March 7, experts from Denver Excise and Licenses, Community Planning and Development, Denver Fire Department, and the Department of Public Health and Environment will host a forum on licensing, permitting, and inspections for the marijuana industry.

Join us!
We'll walk through requirements for new and expanding marijuana stores, centers, and grows, and answer questions on items like transferring ownership, moving a point-of-sale location, and adding security systems. We'll discuss green roofs, the best way to prepare for inspections, new online ways to apply for permits, and what comes first, the license or the permit. Hear advice and tips from the experts, and bring your questions.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 7 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • 5 pm: A presentation covering licensing, zoning, building, fire, environmental quality, health, and inspections
  • 6 pm: We'll open the floor for Q&A

Opportunities for public input on proposed zoning code amendments
A number of proposed amendments to the Denver Zoning Code are making their way through the public review process:
  • Finally, City Councilman Rafael Espinoza is sponsoring an amendment to the zoning code that would require additional notifications to neighboring property owners during the rezoning process. A draft is expected in March. 
It's time to reevaluate how Denver approaches group living
 
In light of increasing demand for non-traditional housing in Denver and recent changes to state and federal housing regulations, city planners will work with an advisory committee to evaluate zoning rules on "group living." Visit the Group Living project page to learn more. 
Zoning code clarification: Roof eaves
Which types of roof eaves qualify for exceptions to zoning bulk and height standards? In response to a recent influx of questions on the topic, the Zoning Administrator revised her interpretation of the relevant code sections and has directed all zoning permitting staff to allow roof eaves associated with any sloping roof plane to qualify for the exceptions.
