A Holiday Tradition
On December 20, Pacifica High School hosted more than 400 kindergarten students at the school’s annual Adopt-A-Child event where Pacifica high school seniors were paired up with kindergartners who they “adopt” for a morning of gift-giving, cookie decorating, games, train rides, photos with Santa Claus, and other holiday fun. Adopt-A-Child has been a Pacifica winter tradition for more than 30 years.
Spreading Holiday Cheer
Before the winter break, Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi and GGEA President Tina Gurney carried out their holiday tradition, an entertaining re-enactment of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss. The pair performed at Clinton Corner, Morningside and Post elementary schools, spreading holiday cheer with the silly tale.

Honoring Lloyd M. Stone
More than 100 people attended a Memorial Dedication Ceremony hosted by GGUSD on December 20 to name the district’s Family Resource Center after former Doig Intermediate School teacher Lloyd M. Stone on the third anniversary of his passing. Lloyd taught at Doig for 12 years, and made a significant impact in the lives of his students, parents, colleagues, and the community. Lloyd is remembered for his passion to help students who came from tough beginnings and for the difference he made in the lives he touched. Happy New Year
We returned from winter break today and students in Mrs. Russell's kindergarten class at Peters K-3 Elementary School were all smiles on their first day back to school after winter break.  
Engaged Students
The scholars at Irvine Intermediate School have been busy engaging in after school classes that are offered by the Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove and Brainstorm. The students are able to take classes that offer opportunities to learn about robotics, cooking, photography, and science and engineering!
