Contra Costa Holds Off on Solar Regs
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors agreed in late December to hold off on adopting a mandatory local rooftop solar ordinance for new residential development after learning that the California Energy Commission (CEC) is proceeding with a nearly identical regulation. With substantial help from CBIA, BIA Bay Area informed the supervisors of the state's work after learning about the proposed local regulation. Full Story
Contra Costa Embarks on General Plan Overhaul
The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors endorsed in late December 2017 a comprehensive, two-year $5.2 million update of the county's General Plan and Zoning Code. Funding will come from a mix of developer permit fees. The revision will reflect the first major update in the General Plan, which was first adopted in 1991 and updated in 1996 and 2005.  Full Story
Contra Costa Water District Proposes 6% Fee Hike
The Contra Costa Water District is proposing to raise its connection fees - or Facility Reserve Charges - for treated and raw water by 6 percent starting April 1, 2018.  The district's rate-setting policy provides for an annual review of water rates, fees, and charges to ensure that sufficient funding is available to meet its expenses as reflected in its 2018-2027 Capital Improvement Program, Ten-Year Financial Plan and operating budget.  Full Story
ACWD Proposes Fee Hikes
The Alameda County Water District board will review on Feb. 8, 2018, a proposed 2.2 percent connection fee increase that will bring the total capacity charge for a single-family residential meter from $7,175 to $7,323, a change of $148 per meter. The district is also planning to increase its hydrant flow test charge 3.6 percent from $238 to $247 per field test. If adopted, the new rates go into effect on May 1, 2018. ACWD serves Fremont, Newark and Union City.   Full Story

HomeAid would like to thank our hundreds of supporters in 2017 who helped to complete 3 new projects, 6 community outreach events and 2 fundraising events to allow us to provide housing for the Bay Area's homeless families and individuals.  We appreciate your continued support as we have another 5 projects in the pipeline to build new lives for the homeless in 2018.  See our year in review attached.  Thank you and Happy New Year!
