Building Racial Understanding
Kettle Moraine High School
January 29 at 7:00 pm

How do you feel about the lack of racial diversity in the suburbs of Milwaukee? Do you wish your family lived in an area more welcoming and diverse?

Join us for Building Racial Understanding , a talk by Reggie Jackson, to understand the origins of racial segregation in our area and explore ways to be more welcoming. The talk, followed by a Q&A, will be held at the Kettle Moraine High School auditorium on Monday, January 29 from 7 to 8:30 pm. The event is free, all are welcome.

Reggie Jackson is the winner of several awards for his work in our area. He is a much sought-after speaker and consultant focusing on the African-American experience, anti-bias education programs and diversity training at schools, libraries, churches, and businesses. Mission Possible: Plymouth Church (Milwaukee) Hosts Holiday Party for Pathfinders

Plymouth Church of Milwaukee, with the support of a Changing Lives Mission Grant, hosted a holiday dinner for fifty young adults and staff from Pathfinders.  Pathfinders serves at-risk and vulnerable youth and young adults in Milwaukee. The array of services include an emergency shelter (limited to youth ages 12-17), a drop in center for young people, a street outreach program, a middle school, a housing program, as well as counseling services. Plymouth helped found Pathfinders in the early 1970's and renewed its involvement about a decade ago.

Volunteers from the church prepared a classic holiday spread.  A former staff member from Pathfinders came dressed as Santa and provided simple gifts to the children. (A number of the young adults involved in Pathfinders are parents).  Everyone ate together at festively decorated tables.

If your congregation would like to learn more about Pathfinders or volunteer to host a meal at the drop-in center, please contact Susan Raines, Volunteer Coordinator of Pathfinders, at (414) 964-2565.

We are still changing lives in the SEA! 2018 Grants are available. Please see the attached document for more details or go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HMPDB7C for details and to fill out an online application.

Bi-Vocational Ministry Incubator
April - November 2018

Increasingly, congregations can no longer afford a full-time, fully-supported pastor.  And pastors are needing to wrestle with tough questions about how to sustain themselves while being faithful to their sense of call.  The Bi-vocational Ministry Incubator provides a safe space where pastors can dig deeper into these questions, hone skills for doing ministry in a different way, develop tools to guide a congregation into making a transition into a more shared model of ministry, and find the courage to explore options.

Monthly day-long gatherings over the course of 8 months will offer skill-building, peer support, and coaching / mentoring. The program is offered inter-denominationally and designed for both ordained and licensed/commissioned pastors, for those who want to explore this option and for those who have already made the transition and want additional support and tools, for those who seek additional income and for those who seek part-time arrangements in order to juggle home and care-giving responsibilities.

Offered by Sand Bur Consulting, LLC.  For more information, contact [email protected]

Registration is limited and deadline is March, 2018.
