Keeping up with pests and diseases that injure trees in the landscape is no small task. With globalization comes pest invasion. We'll discuss why this is so, and start with a look at the top three pest problems in our state and the best management options for them.

Whiting Forest Canopy Walk

At Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens in Midland, work is underway on the longest canopy walk in the country, where guests of all ages and abilities will engage with nature on an elevated walkway rising 40 feet above the forest floor. Additional components of the project include a visitor center, playground, apple orchard, forest classroom, café, creek restoration, and two pedestrian bridges which will connect Whiting Forest to Dow Gardens and the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library. Kyle Bagnall, Program Manager of Whiting Forest, will provide a full overview of this amazing project, including historical stories of this special 54-acre parcel, operated by the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation for the benefit of our community. A grand opening is scheduled for the spring of 2019.

Watershed Forestry Network meetings are free and open to all. Please forward this email to those who may be interested in attending. 
 
Meetings are targeted to those involved with the care of trees or who have an interest in trees from communities within and surrounding the Grand Traverse Bay, Saginaw Bay or Lower Grand River Watersheds.
